Best inside vehicle lock?

My insurance company gives a discount for a steering wheel type lock like "The Club" and I'm considering one, just to be safe. I know the wheel can be hacksawed and the Club removed in nothing flat, so I'm considering a brake pedal lock, or a whole wheel type lock instead.

Does anyone have any of these type and what do you prefer? Thanks

I have a club that I use on older cars, I don't even bother to lock it, is purely a visual deterrant to encourage some non professional teenager to move to the next car.

If the insurance discount is decent, simple arithmetic, get one. With the new chip cars, the starter won't work without the proper key, in essence I agree with Kc, save your money if the discount is meager.

I agree with the previous posts. And - steering wheel or pedal devices are a major PITA to fiddle with, every time you get in and out of your car.

Yeah a real PITA, that's why I don't lock the club, very easy. The brake pedal lock is a 1960s joke, probably only available at JC Whitney along with the engine overhaul pellets.

I use the Autolock Pro in my Vert (the brake pedal lock).

IIKings - why is it a joke?

Unbrakeable...

5point7, that's the one I'm talking about, not the cheesy ones that lock the wheel to the brake pedal. The discount would pay for the lock in the first 3 months, so it's worth it, even if I don't use it.

I was raised just outside of NYC in Jersey and I know a LOT of people that have had cars stolen or broken in to. With the popularity of the 300C, I worry about theft as I live in an apartment and can't garage it.

If they want it bad enough, they'll take it. I have a cousin that had a 74 Vette stolen. It was locked, clubbed, alarmed and in a locked and alarmed garage. When he came out the next morning the garage door was locked and the alarm was still on, but never activated and the car was gone. Cops said they've seen it before...real pro's. There's a big market for some cars!

There's also a HUGE market for airbags as well. Don't think so? Ask any cop or insurance company.

Thanks for the advice!

Totally agree, if they want it, they'll get it. With the vert, anyone can steal it, so the brake lock keeps the chumps away - any professional will still take it if they want it bad enough regardless of what you do.

With a shot of freon and the smack of a hammer, these are easily defeated. Also, thieves won't waste time sawing through 'The Club', but through your vehicle's steering wheel instead...much softer metal. As the saying goes..."Locks only keep the honest person honest"...and nothing more! Purchase 'The Club' and take the insurance discount, especially if it'll pay for 'The Club' anyway...what have you really got to lose?

Imagine living next door to Mexico, where it's been noted that even some governmental agencies having been utilizing stolen US vehicles as part of their own fleet. There is currently a very big market for used ('black market') '300 series' parts (including tires/wheels), as new parts are still somewhat 'hard to come by' even for Chrysler dealers and auto body shops. The HEMI motor is also a popular 'big ticket' item.

Exactly

That's what I meant, they saw through the wheel in seconds and remove the club. Worth it for the discount. Thanks everyone!
