Changing License Plate Bulbs

Would someone tell me how to change the bulbs that light up the tag? Did I miss it in the owners manual? There are screws(torx I think) but that doesn't seem to do the trick. It looks like the bulb assembly will twist a quarter turn and come out but I can't get my hand between the frame and the bumper. Help?

Easy!
The screws take an S1 square bit.
To re-install throw a lasso around the bulb housing, pull it down and slide it around to align holes. Hint: Re-install one screw to hold things inplace before going on to the second.
It all looks like this:

Man, I need to figure out how to post smaller pictures!

i'll say this:

the license plate blub holder design on these cars is the second dumbest blub holder I have EVER seen in my life..

second only to a 1993 Ford Probe front marker light that required dropping the fascia to change because it was between the fasica and the frame..

You are most welcome.
I had a few minutes to kill, so I went out and checked it out. Definitely not something you can do with your fingers. If I'd have had one, I might have tried a small suction cup dart (grandkids didn't leave any behind!) stuck to the lens. But then everyone can come up with a piece of string.

I did it with my fingers, in the dark last time I had to change it..

CA is stupid with fix it tickets. I got pulled over for one of the LEDS flickering.. told the officer I have replacements and I did it right there at 10pm at night in the parking lot he pulled me over in..

Hi Guys,

I am having extreme difficulting getting the light house out of the hole. I see you guys replied on how to reinstall it but there seems to be no clear direction or method on how to remove it. My Idea was to slide it to the right or left and then try to yank it out. This almost worked but then it got stuck. What the best way to remove the license plate lights? Please respond someone.

Thanks

Re: Changing License Plate Bulbs

I almost don't know how better than the response from Desiree could be. Changing this bulb is the easiest thing you can do on your car, apart from filling the gas tank.

Once you have it unfastened, just turn the bulb at an angle and slip it downwards through the slot.
