Don't know if it is possible or worth the time but I have many friends that WILL NOT wear their seat belt. Yes I know it is very dangerous but they wont do it and I cannot take that annoying sound anymore.
So I was wondering how to get rid of it and if it is an easy fix or complicated??
hmm, could be simple enough as disassembling the sensor under the seat, and ya know, you can get a ticket if your passenger isn't wearing their seatbelt. i actually got caught with that once. i was shocked, and infuriated at my passenger. haha.
There are instructions in the manual on how to stop the chime. But I don't think there is a way to stop it from flashing. I read somewhere that some actually put black tape over the seat belt light
Note:
The following steps must occur within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend deactivating the Enhanced Warning System (Belt Alert).
1.Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and buckle the driver's seat belt.
2.Start the engine & wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.
3.Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle & then re-buckle the driver's belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
Note:
Watch for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn on while unbuckling and off while re-buckling the seat belt. It may be necessary to retract the seat belt.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.
The Enhanced Warning System (Belt Alert) can be reactivated by repeating this procedure.
Note:
Although the Enhanced Warning System (Belt Alert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning Light will continue to illuminate while the driver's seat belt remains unbuckled.
"Freinds" don't leave "freinds" ride in the front seat without being belted.
Alternately, have those "friends" that are opposed to being belted in sit in the back seat.
Unbelted passengers in the back seat can kill the front seat people in an accident scenario... do you really want 150-250 Lbs unrestrained and headed for the back of your seat? I don't.
If you friends don't or won't do the right thing by you... in your car... then have them find another ride.
What I do is stick this skinny long metal piece into wear it buckles. When it clicks in, I take it out. That shuts the sound and light off because it thinks the seat belt is clicked in.
Why are you carting around people that won't do what they are told IN YOUR OWN CAR.
If they dont' want to wear it, tell them to walk.
But screwing with your car's restraint system so they can ride in it without their belt is kinda showing that you are a pushover and you need to develop a backbone and a set of balls and tell them to put it on or take the shoelace express.
I don't understand....do the 06 and up have a chime for a passenger not wearing his/her belt? I only get the chime in my 05 if the DRIVER is not wearing his/her belt.
