So I recently had the Billet Technologies park lock out piece installed, and ever since I have had issues with the key not coming out of the ignition. I have to start/stop start/stop the car until it finally releases and I can get the key out.
I took the car back to the shop that installed it and we fiddled with the adjustment screw / plate, but continued to have the issue regardless of it's position.
I then took it to a dealer and they are blaming the billet piece.
What could be wrong? Could it be installed incorrectly?

I had a similar problem when I did my "pink thingy" changeout. I hadn't gotten the release cable length correct when I re-assembled the shifter into the car.
Try adjusting the release cable length by lengthening or shortening the cable sheath by lifting the clip (encircled in the picture)
and telescoping the coupler (the white cylinder with the red arrow) one step, and then re-clip it. Try turning the key. Sorry, but I can't tell you whether lengthening or shortening the cable is the solution, so repeat adjusting the length as necessary in each direction until the key releases.
so i am having the same problem with my gear shifter not shifting out of park but i havent had to replace the pink thingy in my car? do you think it could still the be the white cylinder thing?
If you guys remove the pink piece and do nothing or put a BT piece in, and you have issues like not being able to remove the key, or being able to shift out of park without pushing the brake in - you did it wrong.
Being able to shift out of park without pushing the brake means the mechanism for the pink button on the side of the gear selector is stuck open. Not being able to pull the key out means you need to adjust the lock cable as described above.

If you CAN'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK, the 'pink thingy' is broken. Either have the entire shifter replaced ($300+), or replace the 'pink thingy' with the BT replacement ($50+/-), or remove it entirely for no $'s(and get whatever comes with doing that!).
If you CAN'T GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION LOCK, the cable length is incorrect. This may occur during a a 'pink thingy' replacement if you disassemble the length adjuster and do not get the cable length correct after reassembling the cable. Simply reassemble it at a different length (shorter or longer) until the key releases. If you remove the cable length adjuster as a complete assembly the length of the cable won't be effected and the key will not be stuck in the lock after putting the shifter back in the car.
