Jon's Tinted Tails | Home Page if you want someone to do it that isn't doing it the first time. Professional results.. cost about 90 bucks plus shipping to send your lights in.. but you have to take yours off and send him so you'll be without the ride for a week.. he has some you can buy from him and have him tint to your specs, but that's about $285 for that method.

Or get some tint spray and clear coat and mask off what you don't want tinted and give it your best..

Here's jon's Light/medium tint with clear strips:

On center they are darker:

The light tint might be up your alley, but light/medium is good in person.

^^ X2 Many members have Jon's.

If you choose to tint yourself, a lot of members have had good success with VHT Nite Shades.

Good luck.

Just use tape. Then peel it off after you tint them.

There are a couple of threads on here about the best way to tint the tails yourself. If you take your time and do it correctly - prep, wet sanding, clear, etc. - then you can have some great results. I've never done it, but I think I'm going to tint my OEM side markers because I'm not happy with my aftermarket ones.

Search for VHT Nite Shades and you should find some results and the process from others.

x3 for Jon's Tinted Tails. Mine, too, are light medium. Not too light, not too dark...just right, IMO!

I tried the vinyl overlay and found it very difficult to install because of the shape of the taillight. I finally gave up and threw it in the trash, then ordered from Jon's. Jon has tails in stock- pay up front to use his tails, then when you get them, send your stockers back to him for a partial refund. That way you won't be without taillights while you wait, and you don't need to purchase another set to use in the meantime.

Has anyone on the Forum used the vinyl tint film successfully? If so, please post some pics and your comments on the installation.

I tried the tinted vinyl from headlightarmor.. I have it on the headlights which was a snap to install..

The tail lights are a chore... it took about 30 minutes but I finally got one on. But since the tail shape is not only difficult, it has that dimple along the outer edge. I had to stretch and cajole it in many different areas, heat gun it to death, but I got it on successfully. I needed to trim it up, but like dhoolwerf thought it didn't look good, so I ripped it back off. I had got it as an add on to my headlight tint order just to check it out, and also see if I liked the tint level on the tails so It wasn't a big deal to tear it off and was only 40 bucks lost.

Maybe if the vinyl was real thin and shrinkable you could do a good job.

I'll be glad to let you guys know how the install goes on my Rvinyls... if they ever get here. It doesn't look easy that's for sure. After 10 days and counting these bozos still haven't figured out how to put the darn things on a truck. I've got a tracking number, but no movement on the product.

Jon's tints are the way to go if you want top line. But I'm a cheap bastard
