Is it 1973 all over again???? (end of HP wars)

Thanks to the government and stricer EPA restrictions again?

I keep hearing about stricter emissions laws EVERYWHERE and especially in California.

If the HP wars are again brought to an abrupt halt like they were back in the '70's....

...You might wanna be buying up all the available current muscle cars and hold onto them.

Afraid it's true GHWI . Time frame according to the articles I've read is the next 8 to 10 years. Matt's right, start bogarting all of the muscle cars you can. if you need extra garage space, I'm a certified contractor.

Next on my list is a slightly used 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang in a few years.

Between the cars I own and the Mustang I want, I could be happy driving them forever if they come back out with K cars.

BTW: If you guys have any articles, post the links.

Can't you just picture a souped up "K" Nascar on the Daytona banks going all of 82 mph sponsered by Green Peace.

Not the end of HP wars even if oil hits $90-110 a barrel. The difference is computer controls and fuel ingection in automobiles today and more disposable income. Think of it this way, with gas at $4.00/gallon and 15mpg average on an SRT8 (not 8mpg like a 426), driving 12K/year would eat a whopping $3200 in gas. A Honda Civic averaging 30mpg would use $1600/yr, so an extra $1600 in gass is no small sum (about 2 payments on an SRT8) but relative to the net worth of performance car buyers nothing. In other words, if you can afford an SRT8, E55, M5, Vette (28mpg Hwy), Gallardo, Cobra etc. petrol costs are a very small annoyance. Yes, those who are mortgaged to the hilt and over extended on credit cards and car payments will bail out on SUVs and performance cars and this will have an impact but IMO the hp wars are here to stay and it's a beautiful thing.
