No story really, just assumptions.

Another thread asked me to start a new thread on this so as not to hijack that thread. I mentioned her situation on that thread. Everyone else made up their own assumptions. But trust me someone on this forum would have something to say because that is who they are. Even after I mentioned she was a physician on this thread someone commented about it.

Oh well, could have been a good thread.

Actually, you only alluded to it. Nobody in this thread knew your wife's occupation, nor did we know what thread or forum the details were in. You obviously support your wife's legal use of the device... but it's interesting that you'd post about it in a car enthusiast forum. It seems to me that the more fraudulent users there are, the bigger problem it will become for your wife, and those in her care.

I'd encourage everyone to not purchase one of these devices. They're illegal in California, and should be everywhere (with certain exceptions of course). I'll gladly wait a minute at a red light (showing off my car ), than potentially cause a MIRT war with an oncoming emergency vehicle.

Now, from a gadget geek point of view... pretty interesting.

Im a state trooper in Indiana and those are illegal here. As far as out of state, I have no oppinion. But in state, nurse or not, emergency or not, they're illegal.

To the best of my knowledge Emergency Vehicles and Trams here in Melbourne have them. In Australia we have rather unusual laws where people are free to buy stuff but it is illegal to use. A couple of examples are Radar Detectors & Bongs (there are shops selling these in just about every suburb).

I think they're illegal pretty much everywhere. I'm not aware of any exceptions that would allow their use by anyone who's not driving an emergency response vehicle, but this is something that could vary from state to state. My personal opinion is that anyone who needs this sort of capability should be driving a vehicle with emergency lighting (red/blue strobes or the equivalent).

You cant call them bongs here anymore.. youll get kicked out of the head shop if you do (cant count how many times ive done that..). you have to call them Water pipes, ITS NOT FOR MARIJUANA!! its for tobacco connoisseurs ...

I think these would bad for the general public to have. I drive a ladder truck for a living and we have these on the trucks. But if every joe blow gets one and im driving to a fire and have the green light but someone with one in their personal car has it and turns my light red it really screw up traffic or even worse cause a crash. Driving a 45 ton truck, they dont stop on a dime, and you change my light red when it would normally stay green, somebody could really get hurt.

BINGO

It is clearly taken under an entirely different light with the added details.
