hood strut replacement

my 06 SRT8 needs new hood struts. I was on DriveWire checking them out but there's so many brands. What brand should I go with for a simple strut?

Or do i just go through autozone?

Does the brand matter?

I just replaced mine last month from Autozone. Seems to work fine for me & they were the least expensive

Went to a local autoparts store, replaced in 15 minutes...piece of cake and had them that day rather than ordering etc...

Ditto. Go to Autozone, NAPA, wherever. Do it yourself in 10-15 minutes.

I just replace mine with OEM replacements for $60. Part number 82212094.

i just did my struts on my hood. courtesy of autozone. it seems as if theyre a bit longer then the facotry ones. nothing should happen if theyre a bit longer right?

I just ordered a pair at my local AutoZone: $40 and change with tax.

Longer when collapsed could be a problem. Depending on how much longer the strut could bottom out when you close the hood the first time after installing and possibly damage the attachments on the hood or fender, perhaps even the hood itself. Be cautious when closing the hood the first time.

I'll have to check the AutoZone units I just ordered before slamming the hood!
