Exclamation The SRT8 is decrowned by a new american kid on the block

The 300 srt8 used to be the best thing since sliced bread in my book but now look at what just happend

469 hp. officially.
and the reason why was stated to differentiate the closeness of the two
They felt to be more competitive they must raise there factory output to gain support of there superior v-series

Ok now i mad becasue i now chrysler is not tapping the true power of the 6.1 I say chrysler do what needs to be done pump up the 5.7 to 400 horses and the 6.1 to 500 I understand that these number are not rwhp but bhp is what people look at.

The SRT8 was also "decrowned" by many other cars that cost tens of thousands of dollars more... so...?

Good for Cadillac, that sounds like a very nice, very expensive car.

I think you're blowing this out of proportion.

The E55 AMG decrowned the SRT8 before it even existed. The STS-V is in the same relative price range as the E55.

There's no need to think anything less of the 8 since it's tens of thousands less.

I was refering to the american crown (although you could make the arguement that its not an american car. but society thinks it is and society sets the norm.)

I see what you're saying. I look at cars in price ranges though. If they perform I'll buy foreign, but they never do.

I agree though, DC needs to step up now.

I concur! Hold your head high dude. The majority of gearheads, as it were, can't, or won't lay down the jack for that car. Your SRT w/425 ponies in it's eye candy wrapper, is EXTREMELY hard to beat at that price point.

Mmaloy i also like the srt although i cant afford one. i might give up my 300c and two motorcycles for it. But the reason i not happy is that the caddy was suppose to have 420 hp and it only increased due to the threat of the SRT so chrysler should answer back with the 2007 model which should launch in feb of 2006. with 500 hp factory then and until then you have a worthy adversary

I don't like the compareason of N/A and supercharged cars and between full size and luxury either.

The actual competitors in V8 world are:
Hemi 6.1 425HP
LS7 7.0 500HP
and the upcoming AMG 6.3 509HP (first in new ML63 AMG) replacing the supercharged 5.5.
