Back in town but.....

Greetings all, back from a short vacation over the East coast, had lot of fun & it was great too see family & friends. Got a little sick on Saturday, was walking around a Mall shopping when I started to get really light headed & felt like I was going to faint, was having problems breathing & all. The weather has been Hot, but this felt different, I have had High blood preassure for 4 years but not taking any medication for it. I got my brother to walk me too a pharmacy where I took a reading, 188 over 101!!!, to make the story short, I blamed it on the weather, Yesterday went to see my Dr., he was very concern & hooked me up to a Heart Monitor called KG something, well, Ive an enlarge heart due to high blood preassure, taking three medications right now & have to see a Cardiologist on the 11th, going to have a stress test & check arteries. What a wake up call!!! If you know you have High Blood Preassure get on medication right away, hope things work alright for me, I've never been sick & thought I was in great shape for my age, Wish me luck guys

Cruznit, You will be just fine. Do what the doctors tell ya. The BIG GUY upstairs will take care of the rest. . My father found out last week he has to have a heart bipass on his left side. The main artery is 80% blocked, no redundancy on the left side, so bipass is the only fix. He's only 66, has enjoyed perfect health, but now 50 years of smoking has taken it's toll, and I'm a nervous wreck. Whoever smokes on this forum, STOP IT!! There are people who need and care about you. Cruznit, you'll be great, just take care of yourself my friend! Sincerely, Mike

What Mike said, Cruznit. Take care of yourself, so you can be around to be good to your loved ones -let the Big Guy worry about everything else.

Cruznit, I too ignored the high blood pressure for years laughing it off as hereditary until the company I work for put on a health check day. The person doing the blood pressure test could not believe the readings he was getting and tried both arms repeatedly. I could see the shocked look on his face and that was a wake up call to get checked out fast. BTW, I never suffered any adverse physical effects or warnings like your episode.

I am on medication and have it under control. I have heard that it causes an enlarged heart but I haven't had any checks for this or any suggestion that that needs addressing.

Take the mm's & NR's advice. Do what your doctor recommends and you will be fine.

You're not preaching Lik2race. I always refer to GOD, as GOD, or JC and the boy's, or BIG Kahoonta. Remember, humor is one of his gift's to us, and HIM!!! Mike / The blond headed blue eyed Sicilian. Mother was born in Palermo.

Thankyou all!!, Prayers are always welcome, I stopped smoking like 12yrs ago, and slowed my drinking habit dramatically also. Work is always stressfull so I have to slow down a bit, watch my diet & Salt intake, that one is going to be a hard one to break, since I use salt on Everything, guess I'll have to get use to some changes, again God Bless!!

i just turned 20-smoke (rather heavily), drink excessivly and frequently, engage in other 'high risk behaviors' and use ridiculous amounts of salt on just about everything i eat ......i hope i age alright, lol.
i seem to be in excellent health/shape for my ripe age, but i guess that might be heriditary (my grandfather is 78 and has the daily routine of a 20 year old man in his prime --->his mother died when she was 102!).
unfortunatly i know that i will not live forever with the bad habits i have now, but i guess you could just say im 'enjoying my youth', as im sure many of you have.no doubt there will be a time when i decide my health is more important than the fun i have, but i mind as well live it up while i can.
Cruznit- I wish you the best of luck health wise, and im sure everything will turn out okay! just think, you have that beast of a 300 to keep your livelihood

Cruznit; you've taken a couple of step in the right direction, stopped smking, cut the drinking down.
Follow your Dr.'s advice and leave everything else up to the Lord. Leave it in his hands, he will see you through.
I quit smoking myself, just 28-1/2 years ago. I will keep you in my prayers.
