An Open Letter to the members of The Chicagoland Mopar Connection
Friends, brothers and sisters in the Chicagoland Mopar Connection Family I write this letter asking for a bit of help from as many of you as I can get, and I’m not looking for money, or with this letter asking for your volunteer efforts, I’m asking you to please help in delivering this letter/page of our newsletter to any and all Mopar groups, clubs, individuals, anyone who has an interest in Mopars.
We have an event coming up in July (Saturday the 14th ) that is different from, our usual car shows. We like to call it the “Mopar Family Reunion” What we envision is a venue where different Mopar groups attend and park “together in with their groups”, Perhaps a few examples will better explain this. Our friends at the Chicagoland PT Cruiser club, come and gather, displaying their cars and club pride, while having a table set up for information on joining their club. They get to meet the members of the Shelby Dodge Auto club (SDAC), who have brought a number of cars to display; they also have a table with literature on joining their group and all of the activities they enjoy. They are next to our good friends at the WPC club…. There are a lot; I mean a lot of clubs and groups that include Mopars who might find value in attending.
I want to just touch briefly on the term “Group” in today’s internet world, a group can be a number of people who only meet and share information on a website, and don’t really have a “club structure”, I think the LX body group is like this, and I think the SRT 4 guys got their start this way, these are also valid groups for our family reunion.
Before I go much further, I’m sure your thinking “sure we are inviting people to our car show, what’s new about that” I’ll be the first to admit that part of the inspiration for choosing this Saturday in July for this reunion was to fill our show field, but we’ve added this twist hopefully to demonstrate our sincerity, as each car/truck enters we will collect the very nominal fee of $5.00 that includes the entry fee for the entire car load, but we will ask them “what group or club would you like this fee to go to” and give the fee to that group, I know that the monies generated by this entry fee won’t be huge, but some groups can put to good use these amounts.
There still is one more “twist” and that is for the racers, The local drag strip has offered our Mopars a couple of staging lanes, and we are hoping our racing contingent comes up early on Saturday, and goes to the drag strip in the morning. Any Mopar racer that comes to the show between 1 and 2 Pm will get free entry, they can then park in a special reserved area for our race cars, but will be parked based upon the fasted time slip they have for that day … Those with sub 9 second runs, in group 1, 9 through 10 group 2, 10.001 to 11 group 3, 11.001 to 12 group 4, 12 and above group 5
At about 2:45 pm the attendees will be instructed to gather at the race car area…. We will then “live vote” a winner from each group, and award that person a $100.00 prize, it will be interesting to see how our attendees group votes, the prettiest, meanest looking, the fastest for the least money, or maybe just the bling factor. But CMC racers have been asking for “something” for a long time, perhaps this will be a source for enjoyment (a few have been contacted and they like the idea .. a lot). Just to be clear, any clubs racers, any Mopar with a time slip will be entered for free.
Ok now to some specific’s, what I’m hoping you will do, take this loose page (on the back a flyer for this event) and pass it on, maybe to another club you belong to….. Sorry yet one more thing to clear up…. If you also belong to a club that has mixed brands.. they can send their Mopar people and promote their club, and receive their entrance fees … But this is a Mopar event .. One last thing on this issue …. We are a friendly bunch… if a brand xer were to show up with his Mopar buddies, we won’t turn him back… but this is a Mopar event.
Ok for those of you willing to photo copy this page creating more copies to distribute.. Thank you very much .. but even if all you can do is get this page into the hands of another Mopar club, group or person, that help will be greatly appreciated.
I guess I should also add, that we’d love a big turn out of CMCers, and that immediately after the conclusion of Saturdays show, just a mile or two down the road we have a Big Mopar cruise in (all Mopars are welcome), and then a couple hours later, another cruise in at Anderson Dodge (many times with over 200 cars) and then on Sunday our biggest Mopar only car show of the season, will all the bells and whistles (and even a few surprises this year) car show. Thanks again for your help.

þ Just for clarification, all groups and clubs include, non brand specific clubs… but this is for their Mopar members, as this is a Mopar show, internet groups are highly encouraged to join in, a full “club structure” is not needed. And yes if you’re not in a club you too are very welcome, in fact it’s the perfect time to gather information on all of the area clubs and groups.
þ No Hassle zone…. All Mopars welcome… no classes to be grouped into
This is a new idea, and event, this year CMC is hosting, maybe next year it’s another club in a different location?
I’m sure you might have question, and maybe questions that we haven’t thought of … but the basic premise here is just to get the various clubs and groups represented at one place, because we think that will greatly and positively enhance The “Mopar” experience for all of us..
