How much of a performance hit will it be with the 22s??

Well my thought is if I am gonna buy new wheels why not 22s because already have 20s with the stockers anyhow!!

Man I am turning over and over thinking about those sweet wheels!!
Drool!!!

Jay,
I have the 22" I-Forged from GSM. I don't have any measured data of performance losses, but I feel the loss was minimal. These wheels are actually lighter than the stock SRT8 wheels (I weighed them), and the weight is the greatest performance hit when going to 22".
The ride did not suffer, although there was a slight increase in impact harshness, nothing that I felt was a problem.
Here is a link to track slips from Freakyshiat's 1/4 mile with 22" GSM rims and stockers:
New best time at the track...
There are two scanned slips in his post; the second (the run on stocker 20"s)is hard to see.
What I see is a best of 12.89 on 20's and 13.05 on 22".

I have thought a bunch on this phenomenon, and why the larger wheel would hurt 1/4-mile times. Certainly if the wheels are heavier it will hurt a bunch. And if the overall tire diameter is larger, that would effectively give you a "taller" gear ratio, and would also hurt.
But Freaky's setup has lighter wheels and smaller overall diameters (he is running 295/25-22 in the rear), so why the hit?
I would guess that because of the short sidewall (those 295's have NO sidewall) the tires don't flex enough to lay down a good patch (I am thinking of the opposite extreme of wrinklewalls) and can't hook up as well.
I know my 20" stockers hooked up a LOT better than the 22" setup, but some of that is because the rears are well worn.

Just my thoughts. Sorry for the rambling post.

Jay
