Hey Thanks srt8danno

Yeah if the weather is good and my wife's honeydo list is short I may snap a few pics off... I really wish i had time to get my car detailed but oh well

I'm still contemplating the bags... I'm curious Dubster and Kalo, did you guys put the compressor in the trunk or where the spare is suppose to go in the trunk? I guess part of me is still thinking about just settling from some KW springs & struts and upgrading to air later on down the road. I guess it all depends on cost... and since I would most likely be paying somebody to do it for me I'm afraid of what the labor could be like

But overall I would like to thank all you guys for your replies and PM's... this forum seems like a pretty cool place... the only problem is that i'm seeing so many mods im not sure if my wallet can keep up with what i want not so much a bad influence.,.. more like an expensive influence

Btw... do any of you guys have any idea what kind of maintenance to expect on an airbag system? I'm just curious... living in an apartment is cool until you wish you had your own garage and tools Aloha!

for me so far I just keep an eye out for leaks, so far so good. On the chioce of what to do so far I seen the KW's @1600.00 for the V2 a piece, the kit from UAS is cheaper and I think a better WOW!!!!!! factor. but thats just me. ALoha Seth...Oh yeah mine is in the spare tire well...

I'm leaning more towards the airbag route and am currently calling around to see who is the most experienced installer on Oahu... But I guess before I do airbags I should try to find out more about the "what is legal" thing...

I used to get hassled on this subject years ago with my Chebbie because the headers and sidepipes set so low. No fixed part of the car (fenders, headers, frame, etc.) can be lower than the bottom of the rim. That way when you blow a tire you won't go skidding across the road out of control. This used to be a greater problem, since the lowest profile tires available were 50-Series... but now you can get tires about as thick as simply painting the rim, so this law is rarely enforced.
Ofcourse, with bags you could get ticketed if you try driving with low or broke bags, but you wouldn't do that.
The other concerns of safety and performance could be debated (I would like to read different opinions on this), but my perspective is:
Bagged cars will ride smoother when they are raised to the appropriate height because they can be raised above the "pogo point"; the point where the car is so low the suspension bottoms out on the rubber snubbers, causing the car to bounce.
Some cut-spring cars ride below this point and pogo like crazy. This can be a horrible ride and can be dangerous if you are pushing it in a corner and hit a bump and the suspension bounces causing you to loose traction, spin out and wad-up your ride.
Cars lowered with Eibach or other high-quality lowering springs will typically set the car above the "pogo point" (although many installations still recommend trimming the snubbers anyway). These springs are stiffer than stock, so the car will ride stiffer, but this will improve the handling. Better response, less body roll, less dive, etc.
These springs will work better with stiffer shocks/struts to match.
My viewpoint is is you are going for handling & performance, install Eibach springs and Bilstein struts/shocks.
-OR-
An even better option is to install "coilovers"; a system that replaces both the springs and shocks, with a threaded collar that allows you to adjust the position of the spring so you adjust the height of the car. KW makes 3-different systems for the LX cars: http://www.kw-suspension.com/en/30_Products/20_KW_Coilovers/40_Application_List/index.php?modell_1=300C&level=3&hersteller_1=CHRYS LER&gruppe=all
KW's are the ultimate for performance, at least until they come up with a system that is adjustable on the fly...
I have a set of KW Var2 for my SRT8. I have not yet installed them, but these offer such great options for fine-tuning the suspension I have high expectations.

Bagging is something I have not done (yet), so my opinion doesn't carry much weight. I would defer to others in the forum.
However... I would think that bags would not offer the stiffened spring rate that the Eibachs or KW's would, so they would not offer optimum handling. For the sme reason, I would expect bags to ride better.
If you want the look and are into cruzin' more than racing, then bags are hard to beat. Bags allow you to pull to a stop and lower the car to the ground. Then start-up and raise the car to your chosen height and drive off.
How kool is THAT! It looks SOOO bad when you see it on the street.
Hydraulics can do that too, but the car's handling is shot and the raising and lowering is jerky-bouncy (about as far away from performance tuned as you can get).

Finally regarding pricing, costs are quite different for these systems too:
ballpark pricing for comparison only
Cut springs......... $0.00 plus labor
Eibachs................~$250 plus labor
KW coilovers......~1200 to $1800 plus install
Bags.......................~$2300 plus install

Sorry for the long-winded post-
Others with experience please share your input!

That's the choices I had, gues who won!! !! U.A.S. Usually $1000 for install.

Thanks again for all the replies boys... I just got off the phone with the Hawaii state Recon guys and they gave me the low down on what is legal in Hawaii...

Springs are legal.
Coil overs are now legal (recent change)
Air suspension & hydraulics illegal

As for how low can you go with springs or coil overs,... the bottom line is that no part of you vehicle can be lower than you rim... so if you have a blow out only your rim will be scraping and not any other part of your car... I know most of you already know this stuff but I just thought I'd share my info for the peeps in the same position as me

They also mentioned that for the record if you upgrade your wheel size beyond 1 size larger than its original size then you need to get recon. So me going from 18 -> 22 makes me need to get recon ...And if you go in for recon you need to have a professional/shop re-due your alignment, keep that paper work and get your recon within 30 days (need to bring that paper work as proof....)

So for myself I think my next step is to find out if the mopar coil overs (KW v.1) will void my Chrysler warranty or not... cause if I can legally drop and keep warranty I may do that til the warranty expires then go for airbags

I guess my biggest hurdle is the wife... cause if she knew that airbags could potentially blow out and cause an accident she would just look at me dead in the eye and say "how could you even risk driving your 18 month daughter around in something that could potentially harm her"... which is pretty messed up for me Anyway enuff personal crap about me... party on boyz!
