Nice job NR, I tightly gripped my office chair armrests as we both accelerated down those back country roads. I can't wait 'til we do this again sometime soon...thanks.

I can also confirm that the camera's recording is cutting off a lot of bass. I've talked with Northern on the phone, and his voice is somewhat deeper in real life, and I suspect his 300c's "voice" is deeper too.

Thanks for the vids together with your other info they help alot.

Yep, the sound is deeper - so was my voice until the operation.
But the headaches are gone now!!!

Thanx Rider!! Good job with the clips..........Sounds like this is for me and the kids at the muffler shop will have a ball doing it!
(P.S. Your back tires look like they're wearing just like mine!!!)
Burned them out at the track, 7MI SMIL. 4 new KDW-2's going on next week.

Next time, I'll have a cameraman - if I can find one willing to ride with me.

Yeah, it sounds scary fast until you realize it's in Km/per hr.

BTW, I'm going to paint those ugly pipes underneath with Hi Temp Flat Black this weekend. It's best to run with them unpainted for a week or so to burn any grease off them before painting.

My "not so" inexpensive exhaust system: Take a Borla 140112 set up, hack off the 2 rears (making it a 140125) and retain the 3.5 oval tips.
FINALLY happy with the Borla now... and surprisingly, not much louder with the 2 mufflers! I now get a slight drone at 60mph...and a little meaner sound on take off, but this is much more of what the exhaust should sound like, and it really growls WOT.

Hey, I've talked to him on the phone too and either the bass is very shallow, or he really did have James Earl Jones call me in his stead...

Cool vids NR, sounds good!

Exhaust Pipes Painted Flat Black

As promised, I have some pics of this modification with the pipes painted with Hi-Heat Flat Black, and a close up of a T 304 Stainless Steel Ractive Tip:

Oh, and Linda, that really was my buddy James Earl - I really sound like Tiny Tim

I went the cheap way by cutting the resonators and bending pipe to replace them. I used the stock tips. The sound I got was almost the same, but definately a little louder on takeoff. I did feel a slightly better takeoff, but maybe that was just me wishing.
I do want to get a zoomers, but for now I cant spend the $1000! A local shop did this for me for $100.

Northern Rider,

Did/do you have the 55-60 "vibration" issue that is cured by replacing exhaust components?

The reason for asking: if you have the problem and have not had the dealer do the "fix", I am wondering if your recent exhaust change impacted the vibration.

Yep, I had the problem; warranty replaced the entire exhaust system -cats back.

55 mph problem cured.

Then, after 3 weeks I did the resonator removal surgery. Go figure. I'm just car crazy.

The vibration did not come back after the operation.

However, I am finding the system is a little louder now after 4 weeks of use. I'm okay with it, but some may not be.
