I got mine in and I had to leave the heat shield out to get more light. At first they where dull but after starting the car they got brighter but still not as bright as factory.

dim LED lights

I got my LED lights today and installed them. Here are my observations:

I got a set of whites and reds for the front domes, and a set of reds for the rear and doors. These lights are weird in more ways than one-

In the "normal" position of the light switches (engine off, key in pocket), they are indeed dim - the domes and the rears. The doors seem to be bright enough. I installed the front ones facing the parabolic mirror and removed the heat shield from both. When you operate the panel lighting control near the headlight switch and turn it to the detent position for max, all lights are bright. When the ignition key is turned to "acc"-the lights are bright...These are LEDS and should be polarized-- but they work both ways so maybe there is some sort of a circuit in there other than just the LEDS, which may explain some of the dimming via a voltage drop. Also, I "burnt" out one of the whites while experimenting with the panel control- looks like these lights are susceptible to transients in the power supply...again indicating that there is some sort of additional circuitry in there.. ah welll!

My interior is now "all red"- weird to some, but restful to my eyes in the dark (having spent many an hour in my youth in photographic dark rooms lit with red light)

Installed my lights today

I installed my LED lights in my interior about 5 min ago, and i would have to agree that they are rather odd. Just like Jaydee said, they are dimming in some positions, and very bright in others. I took out the reflector and it helped a little bit, but it is noticable. During the day time (around 4:00 here) they almost look purple/blacklight. Oh well, cheap mod and looks pretty cool.
I'll post pics tomorrow.
Matt

Does anyone know what LED bulb replaces the trunk light and what are the LED bulbs for the vanity visor lights. Visor lights are the only old lights I haven't replaced in the interior. I went with the super white color and it really set off the interior giving it that high end car look, that is, until someone opens the visor and that ugly yellow light comes on. The manual says the bulb is an A6220 but I haven't been able to find the bulb on any site(sites are kinda confusing) If anyone has replaced these bulbs which did you use for the visor and/or trunk light?
Thanx
