Installing Privacy Curtains

So my car is going into the shop next week to get a "tune up" on everything before i start my drive from Oregon to Florida. I threw the idea out to the head installer of doing some type of curtains for the rear windows and he started researching it. What we came out with is a system that runs on rails (top and bottom of curtain) that will "open/close" the curtains for the rear windows electronically. He is also going to try to sinc it to the alarm system (i am putting a new one in) which i think will be pretty cool...when i lock the car they will cover the windows.
What do you guys think?
Matt

Peter,
Well, I think it's interesting but curtains don't agree with me at home let alone in my vehicle. I'm perfectly happy with the dark ceramic tint. Care to share why you are interested in curtains?

Are these the really cool narrow vertical louver type, attached top and bottom and "stack" against each other like a little wall/suit of armor as they deploy/draw back? Kinda like in the Armor-All commercial?

I like the idea of an obscuring cover that slides closed on rails, that part is really cool - but otherwise I'm with the other guys, curtains are not really my cuppa tea, not on a car anyway...JMHO.

I dont know, I like the curtains you see in the 7 series BMWs. I say if you like them, go for it. Please post pictures if you decide to get them as I would love to see how they turn out.

Also, I have yet to hear someone look at an owner of a 745Li or an upper end Mercedes and say:

"If you wanted curtains, you should have gotten a camper"

Thanks for all the input

Well, if i had a really dark tint, i would probably not be doing them. But since the manager at this tinting shop convinced me that cops are "really cracking down on illegel tinting" - i decided to go with a lighter tint. I got a lifetime insurance on them for replacement of a bad window...but i asked if i could change color tint, and the guy told me that i couldn't and would have to pay another install charge.

So instead of having a really dark tint (which i would have preferred) i am deciding to do something new, that i dont think anyone has really tried before...so that if people do like the idea and want to try it, i can be some kind of help to them.

Car goes in this week...i'll post pictures as soon as they are done, and i will try to get some install pics.

THanks again
Matt

Me and a friend rode in the BMW 760 V12 and we thought the 'curtains' were pretty sweet... We kept hitting them up and down, the people around us were laughing their butts off because we were playing peek-a-boo with them lol. It was for the BMW drive for a cure, they brought all the BMW's in for people to just drive.
