Im So Pissed!!!!!

I started installing this stupid satin nickel dash kit and I just didnt like it once I got some of the pieces on. I'm so picky and things just have to look factory and perfect to me. Now I dont know WTF to do w/ this stupid dash kit. I put the driver side airconditioning vent, door pull, radio bezel and shifter surround on... now I think Im out $225 for this stupid thing. Not to mention the fact that my interior looks like *^%!. I also started putting the heated seat and ashtray surround on but I stopped... I have that stupid aheshive promoter on there now. Any advice to get that stuff off? I shoul've just order a sivler radio bezel instead of this dumb dash kit!!!

What the Frick should I do now!?!?!?

BTW, installing one of these is one of the MOST frustrating things a human being can do!!! Now excuse me... I need to go find some alcohol... I feel like I just ruined my car!!! ARRRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like northern rider suggested, alcohol is the cure for both problems. Good luck!

That's the good thing about alcohol... it's the cure for everything!!! You name it!!!

Im a little less pissed off now. Still try'na figure out what to do aboout the dash kit. The air conditioning vents look really good, so maybe I'll put the rest of those on. I really dont like the radio bezel. Can I order the silver one somewhere? I have the black one. Argh, I dunno what to do

I'm pretty sure I have no shot at returning the kit

Im a little less pissed off now. Still try'na figure out what to do aboout the dash kit. The air conditioning vents look really good, so maybe I'll put the rest of those on. Right now you are not in the right frame of mind and making impulse decisions. Forget the kit for tonight. Take a deep breath. Have another sip or four, lol. Relax.

I really dont like the radio bezel. Can I order the silver one somewhere? I have the black one. Argh, I dunno what to do First of all I don't know what color your 300 is. If you want the bezel silver. Strip the kit off of the black bezel you have and have a painter paint it silver for you.

Here is a thread I started to showcase some work Jon did for me.
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/pic...s+tinted+tails
Scroll down to the picture of my bezel. My dask kit is painted in silver steel metallic OEM paint. I am not happy with the way the bezel area turned out either. It shows to many different pieces on the bezel. It (kit) does not also cover the entire area by the clock, and just below the top A/C vents, the left/right dial area. I will leave the pieces on the heated seats and ashtray. I will heat up the pieces with a heat gun, pull back the kit, on the bezel. Since it is going to get painted, the surface can take a harsher material to prep it for painting. The part of the kit you want to remove, but leave the material under it in same condition. I suggest using Moose's method of WD40 to get remaining residue off of kit area you lifted up.

I'm pretty sure I have no shot at returning the kit.
Never say never. Check with the place you bought your kit. Find out what there policy is on returning the kit. If they don't take it back. You could have Jon paint your kit in the color you want. Install the painted kit and then see how you like it. Let me know how it turned out.

Don't be in a rush to install the kit. Take your time. If you only do a few pieces a night. You are enjoying mod time with your machine and it gives you an excuse to work on the car.

Well, thanks for the advice freebird... I feel much better now that I've had some time to sort things out.

The thing that bugged me the most was the radio bezel and the ashtray pieces... they just didnt look right to me. They looked way too plastic-ish for the car. I think the larger the piece the cheaper it made the interior look. So I took the ashtray and heated seat pieces off and I got most of the adhiesive promoter off too... but I still have some work to do. I'm probably going to pull the radio bezel off and blow dry it to heat it up then take that kit off of it. I'll either buy a silver one or paint it bright silver. Do you have any advice on how to take the radio bezel off?

I didnt do a very good job of putting the shifer surround on so I'm gonna pull that one and try to re-apply it... hopefully it still sticks really well. I do really like the airconditioning vents, door pulls and window control surronds. So I guess Im only going to use a few pieces of the kit, but I think I'll like the outcome once I clean up the adheisive and get the radio bezel taken care of. BTW, I called a dealership and they wanted over $400 for the 300C silver bezel... what a joke!!!

Oh, and I love your 300, especially the exterior... its amazing.

PM me for a cheaper bezel, I bought the navigation bezel for a carputer install I'm planning for a little over 80 shipped, satin silver oem part. I didn't much care about the color as it's going to be glassed and sanded.

Got some pics?

Don't put it on EVERYTHING.

I.e. do not put the BIG SWATH pieces around the steering wheel column or above the glovebox.

Do not put it everywhere. I'm sure it looks okay. What does your friends/family say about it? 'course what you think is all that matters.

Yeah, I figured that's the best thing to do. I put the A/C vents on, shifter surround, radio bezel, door pull surrounds, and the window and lock control pieces on. Just using the small pieces actually looks really good. I just wasnt happy w/ the radio bezel and the ash tray/heated seat pieces. The big "swath" pieces and bezel dont look good to me. I already bought a silver bezel on ebay for $45 plus shipping!!! So I think once I get the new bezel on I'll be happy w/ the way it turns out.

No pics though... maybe I'll post some if I can get my hands on a camera. BTW, I still havent installed those chrome door handles that I PM'd you for tips on the install... They're going to waste in my trunk right now
