Ashtray Courtesy Light

I noted that on the 300's the ashtray has no light for it. Looks like it was designed to have one, but no light. Anyhow else noted this annoyance and/or have a solution?

Although my car is one of the few which also came equipped with the complete optional Smokers Group (OEM front ashtray, OEM front cigarette lighter element unit, plus OEM rear ashtrays...in the rear passenger compartment), we've never used them. Although I'm a cigar and tobacco pipe aficionado, the 'no light' situation does not bother me in the least, as I don't smoke in any of my vehicles.

Wife smokes. We use a small battery on/off flashing LED light. Just place the LED in the compartment with the lighter. It will give you a good reference point.

I use my ashtray to hold my mute botton for my radar detector. Clean look.

No one in my family smokes so the ashtray was useless. Didn't need the power plug either cause there's no way I'm gonna have a power adapter hanging off my dash. In a pinch, I'll use the one in the console.

Here's my solution.

hey rsmeanie, can you please post some more pics of your h/k ipod setup? where did you mount the wheel to scroll through the menus?

i am a smoker myself, and although i swore to myself i was never going to smoke in my car, i find not having a lit ashtray at night is a quick way to make a mess of my interior. im thinking of mounting a small LED inside it, but havent got around to it yet.
