300c ash burl dash kit??

ok, i love the pics of the ash burl dash kits, and am thinking of purchasing one...however, since i have the C and not the heritage or srt8, my wheel has the wood grain....and i dont suppose the dash kits come with a cover for that? how can i (some what inexpensively) cover that up to match the ash burl??

I have looked at so many dash kits; whose kit are you considering?

The ash burl kit... is that the dark gray simulated burl wood?
I have a sample of the dark gray color (Titanium Burl) and I was disappointed in the look when I saw it in person. I bought several samples form a few vendors to compare.

No question, in person the REAL WOOD looks so much better than the simulated... the grain in the real wood shimmers and moves as the light or your viewpoint changes. The simulated samples were flat, with no depth.

Here is where I plan on ordering mine; the link is to their "color" samples:

Dash Kits, Wood Dash Kits, Trim Dash Kits, Wood Grain Dash Kit, Carbon Fiber Dash Kit, Molded Dash Kits

I am still comparing, tell us where you have been shopping!

Most places will send you samples. I agree with Tork Monster that real wood has more depth. My SRT8 had no wood. For the interior colors I was working with, the Ash Burl (simulated) worked for me and my taste. I didn't see a real wood in the color and style I wanted.

Tork Monster - Not a great pic, but this is Ash Burl I installed. The look worked for me.

AK, you were the one who inspired my interest in the ash burl....my question is about the 300c steering wheel...since its not all leather or that titanium color like the heritage editions....am i just stuck going with a brushed aluminum or all silver dash kit?

Oh, yeah! You WERE asking about that, huh?

I would think swapping the complete wheel would be a pain and possibly dangerous considering the airbag.

Maybe a leather wrap? There are a lot of really cheap steering wheel covers available from Al's Auto Supply that you would want to steer clear of, but you could have a custom one made with matching leather from an upholstry shop if you couldn't find one online.

You could swap out the steering wheel for a SRT one but it's major moolah or do what I'm planning on doing in the future. Painting mine with the same body exterior paint color of the car and seal it up with multiple layers of clear coat or laquer or something. I don't want a SRT st. wheel so that's how I'm gonna do mine. Just a thought.....

JP300c - Sorry I didn't answer your question earlier.

The suggestion Tork Monster made of a leather cover is probably going to be the most cost effective. I don't believe any of the kits cover that portion of the steering wheel (wood on top of wheel?). They onmly have pieces to cover the silver portion of the spokes.

Wheelskins - The World's Finest Genuine Leather Motoring Accessories, Steering Wheel Covers, Driving Gloves and Shift Boots is link to leather steering wheel covers which are actually pretty good looking. They stitch up on the inner portion of the wheel rim as a factory leather cover does. Shop around and you can find them a little cheaper. I have used them in the past. Do it in black or a color combination (ie. black/gray) and ....viola! It would cover your wood and protect it. Check it out, see what you think.

Hope that helps.
