Yeah there's a small amp on in the front dash ... But if I would replace mine i'd get kenwood or JBL I was told they're the best ... anyway is this amp-to-pc cable available in major stores or should I order them online ??? just to be in the safe side and not halt the project for this silly cable

I was going to try and see if I could crame a mini itx mobo and slot load dvd and notebook hardrive in the dash behind the touchscreen... I have still yet to pull my stock radio out and get good measurements for it though.

Can't say I'm a big fan of how he mounted that HD... would be better to try to cusion it a little more and have it horizontal... JMO.

I really haven't planned out the audio part yet... that's the one thing I think is really going to be the most difficult for me personally.

I do plan to add Sirius and I have to have an FM tuner for my morning show during my 16 mile 1-2 hour drive every morning to work (gotta love the DC metro area... blech). Any plans of adding satelite or a radio shark?

putting the computer behind the screen is another possibe route...
you'll need to customized case for it...
since i bought the voompc case... ill just go with it...
but if i were to build another one...
i will use plexiglass to build it...

audio setup shouldnt be hard...
like i said hardest thing is hooking it up to the right cables for powers...
buliding a nice looking bezel will be next...
everything else... should be breeze...

Yes, I'm going to work with billet technology and get some custom made aluminum brackets made so that it will *hopefully* bolt right in... once I get a little warmer weather I'll start working on that. I was going to buy the touchscreen this week, but it looks like I'm going to SF in cali so I need the $$ for a plane ticket for the time being.

Hey,

I didn't know this was such an uncommon thing in here. I have had a car PC for about 2 yrs. I even tested the EVDO tech. offered here by our cellular provider (Bell Mobility). I have got some CRAZY stuff for it!!. I have a power supply that automatically will shut down your system so you don't have to go to the start button and shut down. I have a 128 trigger switch board. This allows you to program you own touch interface and control the trigers for on and off. This can be used for power windows, amps, locks, cameras, etc. You can do some amazing things with it. As well if you have air ride you can link the triggers to your valves and control your air ride through the carpc via touch screen. You can BT your PDA and control you air ride remotely with your pda, or any of the things you've hooked into your carpc. the only problem I have had with it is when it comes to sound. I found that there was alot of feedback and the quality wasn't what you get from an alpine deck ( or something comparable). I installed it as a toy along with my D310. I put a 7in screen on the roof just infront of the sunglass holder. Check the pic (I would show a better one but I'm redoing the car right now!

I don't think I'll have it there I'll have mine mounted in the Trunk, there'll be more space for air there I've read a thread in mp3car.com and the guys there were warning about installing a carputer under the seats because of the heat, so I think that should apply to this guy as well !!! but the fan is a good idea too ...

Spider... check out RoadRunner for your front end. Some people use streetdeck or frodo as well, it's all about preference.

Rollin Thick... I'm intrested to hear more about this "trigger". Is it a CANBUS interface? I was thinking about getting one myself to control things in my car and also do OBDII data collection. I'd love to get a programmable remote that I can use to roll down all the windows, turn on my halos, etc...
