Ultimate Pedals. Install and Finished photos

First of all I want to express that this is not a simple DIY project. If you do not have appropriate tools and help, don't try it.

Pros:

Great looking product. Strong, non-slip, looks fantastic when finished.

Cons:

Poorly engineered for 300C. Does not take into account that gas pedal is essentially plastic, and Brake pedal is concave so picking a spot to drill is a nightmare.

Well here is the step by step:

1. Pedal rubber removed from brake pedal. This is the only pedal that has the "rubber" pad, as gas pedal is plastic, so is e-brake pedal (although it looks and feels like stamped steel).

2. With masking tape, mark your holes, and drill pilot holes (you will need a powerfull drill (at least 14v if you are going cordless). Make sure you have enough room with the drill and a support brace (brake pedal do move).

3. After drilling pilot holes, drill the regular holes and install (this is straight forward).

4. Similarly, install the rest.

5. Finished

I hope this helps.

Overall I am happy with the product and the final look. The pedals are non slip, they look good and most importantly feel solid.

Thanks Ultimate Pedals.

Thanks SLK, this is the kind of stuff that makes the forum so great. One ??, do the dead pedal screws go into the sheet metal or into the carpet and plastic only.

Great post and photos, Slk.

That dead pedal is massive. How do the pedals feel, compared to OEM?

I know this is very subjective - just your impressions/

Hi SLK,

Thank you for your post the photos.

I would like to address some of your comments:

1) Our installation instructions are available for anyone that would like to review the procedure and tools required at:

http://www.ultimatepedals.com/install.htm

Many of our customers install our products themselves and the rest pay someone else to install the pedals.

We have found that local Car Stereo Installation shops (they are used to this kind of work) are an excellent choice.

2) Could you please explain what specifically is poorly engineered?

We supply stainless steel self tapping screws to mount to the plastic gas pedal and footrest.

Our brake pedal matches the curvature of the brake pedal and provides many mounting hole choices.

Usually the corner holes are the best choice.

The 300C brake pedal will lie flat against our brake pedal along the holes around the periphery of the pedal.

Rob

Ultimate Pedals - re: engineering, I may have been too quick to judge at this point, as ultimately all lines up properly and the end result is great. I had thought that the pedal would have been flat, enabling me to mount the screws anywhere I want. In this case, I can only mount the holes and the screws in only 2 places. There are only 2 places where you can mount the screws.. period. On the right top utmost corner and the second hole from the left top. No other location would work. It took me about 20 minutes to figure it out This is purely MY FAULT, not the designers fault.

I withdraw my engineering comment, as it is likely my poor mechanical skills that are to blame Again, I am very happy with the final look/product.

Northern rider - the pedal "feel" great. Much more surefooted then OEM and they look terrific.

Stunna 55 - I think you are refering to the dead pedal. Its for your left foot to rest during the drive. RIght now you have a small oval rubber piece.

Hope that clear up a few questions. I would be happy to answer more.

Verdict - if I had to do it all over again....I would!

They are long enough to just bite into the sheetmetal. I put 6 screws instead of 4 (Ultimate Pedals provided 8 screws. Kudos!)

Thanks for the report and replies, SLK. They are exactly what I am looking for.

When I come back from holidays, I will order a set.
