slk320...It's not a problem with the manufacutrer. They are not even really involved. With the dashkit group buy it was a member of the forum that was a liaison with a non-forum supporting comanpy but that seems to be the problem. He had a group buy organized but the entire thread is gone now.

It would apprear that if the manufacterer is not a supporter of the forum then any transactions are discouraged. I hope this is not true but why would an entire thread regarding a group buy disappear?

That kind of goes against the spirit of this forum. Only the adminstrator can answer the reason why an entire thread just disappeared.

Ya know...the more I think about it, the more I think we need an answer. Why did an entire thread about a group buy disappear?

I love this forum. People like SLK320 and Linda keep me coming back for great information. But honestly I was interested in this group buy and all of a sudden the thread was deleted. Was it because the manufacturer of the dash kit was not a forum approved dealer?

It should not matter. If this is the case then that goes against the spirit of this forum. We are all here for the love of the 300C and our own desire to improve our vehicles to the style we want. Not to support only approved vendors.

If I am wrong on this, please straighten me out but also explain why a thread that had over 30 responses on a group buy is now gone.

I'll give it a shot >>>

It is discouraged to advertise, promote, etc. a non-supporting vendor. How is that going against the spirit of this forum? This forum exists because of the supporting vendors. I am all for new and innovative products (eg. spiderlites) and actually advertising/promoting them as long as there is not a supporting vendor that sells a similar product. I had developed a pedal cover kit similar to Ultimate Pedals and discussed it openly on the forum, but as soon as I was aware there was a supporting vendor with a realted product I have not discussed it since. I really know nothing about the missing thread, but would hope you could understand the reason it is discouraged to promote products that are available from a supporting vendor.

Here I am a day old as a vendor already preaching....

Fair enough.... I just bought the cabin filter assembly from Mopar Supercenter and when I'm ready to purchase my dash kit, I will check first with NYC dash kits.

I dont really understand the confusion here.

The group buy was arranged with a vendor who is not a supporting vendor here.

That is against the rules.

The thread was removed.

End of story.

I'm sorry that people don't like it but as was said above, these forums are free to the end users thanks to the supporting vendors. Here is the particular rule just in case there is any confusion.

Quote:
3. Group buys from supporting vendors are allowed. However, group buys from non supporting vendors (especially on products that our supporting vendors sell) will be heavily frowned upon.

By that logic, I'm sure Snoop Dogg and my Aunt Martha are benefiting from the group buy somehow.

NYCdashes would have to run the group buy for the other company, since NYC dashes is the supporting vendor here. I doubt that would happen.

That's about the only way the GB would be able to proceed.

With all due respect Sir, I have been very happy to find this forum and enjoy this community, and in part tried to give back to the same by providing photos, product reviews and tutorials. I find the above captioned remark to be, in the very least rude and at worst unbecoming of a “moderator”.

If my logic was difficult to follow I apologize, and hope that the following logical chain would be easier to comprehend:

NYC dashes either owns/operates or in partnership with www.wooddashexperts.com , therefore buying from one would have the substantially same effect (in terms of commission/percentage) as buying from the other. (Much like your Aunt Martha may be profiting from Snoop Dogg in some, unbeknown to me, way).

How do I arrive at the aforementioned conclusion? Aside from the obvious fact that both phone numbers connect you to the same New York/New Jersey office and you get to speak to the same individuals, there is substantial similarity of addresses and both appear to be registered by the same individual. When I spoke to the individual who answered on both numbers, he confirmed the ongoing relationship between the two, although declined to elaborate on specifics.

I understand that NYC Dashes may have a subsidiary/corporate relationship with wooddashexperts, as is evident from wooddashexperts carrying the full line of NYC dashes - 300C kits. I also understand that there may be very good reasons why NYC dashes do not want to promote or participate in arranging a group buy for a "competitors" product that they carry in favor of their own product for which they, undoubtedly, get a higher profit margin.

Finally, I am cognizant of the rules of a public forum and hereby recognize your right to ban me from further participation in this forum, and am respectful of consequences I am bringing on to my self by voicing this, however I do not wish to spoken to like a child, nor are these rude remarks conducive to a discussion forum.

I have no desire to ban anyone. But trying to justify the GP by the 7 Degrees Of Seperation isn't going to work. The rules are laid out plainly in the "Site News/Rules/Updates" forum. I'm sorry that it's an unpopular rule and people don't like it, but it's just the way things are. It's not fair to the supporting vendors and since these guys are stepping up and helping defer the cost to the members, then their interests must be protected first and foremost.

Fair enough. I merely commented on the tone of the remark, which I thought was inappropriate. I wish this site well and look forward to further contributions.

as a piece offering, may I introduce the new Startech (i.e. Brabus for us German folk) 300C wagon:
