I just got a shifter insert from Billet Technology, and I need to remove the shifter handle to install it. The instructions from BT say to gently pry down the silver ring at the bottom of the shifter handle, exposing white clips, then pull up on the handle. I've got an SRT8 shifter handle, and the silver ring doesn't budge when pulling on it by hand. I gently tried a screwdriver, but it still seems very tight. Before I accidentally break or scratch this thing, I want to make sure that this is the correct procedure. Has anyone done this on a 2007+ SRT8?
If so, it just unscrews. It is tight, but it just unscrews. And the chrome bezel around the base just lifts straight up. You can do it easily with just your fingertips. Hell, the whole damn car comes apart with few tools. It's a lego car!!!

It Wasn't Me
(well, maybe once it was)
On my 2006 300C SRT8 it screws off and on my wife's 2008 Charger R/T there is a pinch ring at the bottom of the shifter that you pry down and there is a plastic clip underneath. Pry down the ring( it's tight) and the shifter knob will lift up if you have this type!
