Climate Control Lighting Problem

Hello,

Recently my lighting went out for my Climate control center. I can't see the dials at night. I removed the Bezel and the climate control itself only to find 3 bulbs and all are blown. I am hoping someone can tell me what size these and possibly where I can get them from.

Thanks for any help.

There's a book that comes with the car...usually the dealer leaves it in the glove box in a little vinyl case. There's all kinds of information in there, like bulb sizes and replacement procedures.
Usually the owners manual is a good place to start for bulb sizes.

The size of the bulbs should be printed on the bulb somewhere, if not, you can just remove one of them and bring it to an auto store and ask for replacements.

I had the same issue and purchased a new unit for under $200. I don't think you can replace the bulbs because the control uses LEDs and it's too much work to replace them. Do a search because someone did attempt to replace the LEDs.

Burned out LEDs: really rare! And to be visibly able to determine it even rarer.

If the problem was mine, instead of just handing over $200 to a stealership, I'd remove them (whatever it takes) and take a look on Radio Shack's website for a physically similar unit with a medium level of light output and a wide angle beam, and install them. Estimated cost 3$ for the lot.

For the most part, individual LEDs all require 2 to 3 volts to operate, so the question as to what voltage they should be is not a question like with incandescant bulbs.

If replacing them didn't work work out I'd first try memorize the control positions, or pay the $200 to the thieves.

If anyone plagued with the problem wishes to attempt it themselves, remember to observe the polarity of the LEDs. There are only two possible choices, one of which will work and the other of which won't work but will not damage the LED beyond use.
