Hard Wood Floors

Ok so I have a friend who owns a hardwood flooring business, and I was recently at a site with him the other day and he was installing some floor almost identical in finish to that of our California Walnut. I jokingly remarked about putting (removable) hardwood floors in my C. Concindentally he said he was planning on putting some in his DeVille this summer, provided he can find someone to help him with the fine details of the installation, as he has all the wood and necessary materials ready to go. He said I'd get all the wood and such for free if I can find anymore about what this would exactly entail.........so do any of you out there have any knowledge about how exactly I should go about this project????

I'm still not sure if itll look right, but hey its something different that no one has (that ive seen at least). If the color will match my 72 piece wood dash kit I think itll look insane. Hopefully all 4 'wooden floormats' will be removable so I can keep them extra clean! Never thought I might be using Pledge to clean my car floor, haha!

Maybe you could get some of those wood bead seat covers LOL, wood floors would be odd to say the least, I saw a magazine with all kinds of luxury mats including custom fit Persain/Oriental style which were very impressive. Reminded my of my 65 Corvair I tooled around in during college in the early 80s, my grandmother got new carpet and I used her old Persian style rugs in it.

I agree lennox, remembering, of course, that I'm a psych nurse!
Friends dont let friends have their carpet replaced by a carpenter, besides I don't think your warranty covers termites!

That is interesting; termite/pest control for your car! I think that it should look really great though.

I saw a concept car at the Indy Auto Show this past winter that had wooden floors in it...it was some kind of strange SUV-Minivan looking thing. I can't for the life of me remember who makes it now.

its a fairly easy project , especially if your doing just mats.. i did a escalade a few years ago with a special wood floor composite, they use it for gyms and like fitness places, its almost like rubber but it wasnt ..i wish i had pictures of it...it turned out kool, i bet the real wood might look even better....i would actually just make templates of your stock floor mats and then you have it ....

It always starts small. Maybe a wood dash kit, then a teak floor mat, and suddenly you're pondering "birch or maple" for the entire floorboard. Beware my friend, this how wood paneling reached the outside of cars way back when.

Let's keep the concept of a 300 Woody confined to the shorts of those who get to drive SRT-8s.

Imperial (Margarine)

Parquet.
No, butter.
Buttery soft walnut finish that is.
If Chrysler does it, it wont be the first.
Check out the hardwood floors in the new Lincoln Aviator concept

wow, that aviator is pretty nice if i say so myself, hopefully theyll put it into production. anyways, like i said before im a little reluctant to do this because of how it might look, but i mind as well go for it anyways just to be unique. i can always remove them if i want. tommy, im gonna try your idea, and have my buddy use my mopar slush mats as a trace for the floor. the only thing i worry about is the curvature of them and if they whole wood panel sits flat it might not fit in the feet areas properly. anyways, im gonna see what i can do and if i do go forward with it ill definatly post pics.

It will look great! I wonder what it'll do the stereo acoustics? Easy to clean!
