Shift Knob Removal... Not working need help!!!

Ok so first I read as much as i could find on the forum and it seems like for the most part everyone says to turn the knob as hard as you can and it will break the seal and come right off. Well I cranked on that thing as hard as I could but the thing is not budging an inch. I even used a rubber strap wrench and that didn't even work. someone anyone please help me. I want to put my new leather knob on. If it makes any difference I have an 07 base model Chrysler 300. I look forward to hearing some advice I really hate my rubber and plastic knob.

Sean

Mine was a pain too.

tighten then try to loosen, tighten then try to listen.. just keep wiggling it as much as possible.. also try push down as you try to "unscrew" it.

it's a pesky little bugger.. but should come with some effort.

hey, I just changed mine out the other week for a leather/tortoise shell one (and I have the 07 base plastic too) I used the snap on hook pick tool and pulled that bottom part down from 4-5 different spots around it very hard and it finally came off. Just in case that you are installing a different shift knob like I did...I think mine came from like a srt8 because it was a short shifter, but anyways, you'll have to change out everything on it...that was a little pain, but got it done in 20 minutes.

Before you tear up your shifter, the 06's screw off and mid 07's and the 08's have a pinch ring at the bottom of the shifter that you pull down on and the knob slides up!
So if it doesn't unscrew fairly easily you have the pinch ring type!
