PPI... don't get frustrated. Some of the guys were thinking you might be trying to skate
around the vendor rules. No biggie.

I knew what you were going for in your post about Katzkins, and I knew you weren't trying
to sell them, so no worries about your thread being locked up.

That being said, I have some photos of MY Katzkins I installed myself. I found the leather
to be of nice quality. Actually better than I thought it was going to be. A tremendous
amount of the cost of leather seats is the install. I got them from Ted over at the
Mopar Super Center. Don't be scared to drop the $800 for them. Especially if Aspendog
is willing to get a group buy going. This was the best mod I have done to my car yet.

Marlin, you would be surprised to find out how much of the leather interiors Katzkins
supplies to dealers. I would gamble to say that most of today's leather interiors actually
come from Katzkin. I'll post up some before and afters. I was going for a matching look.
The silver was my wife's idea, and it matches both the car and interior trim pieces very
well. Most of the people who saw them at this year's national meet said the photos
didn't do them justice. That, and my camera just sucks. I actually have a
shot someone took with some high falootin Canon or something... lemme find.

PPI, thats what these forums are for man. Speak your mind but be courteous to others. Unfortunately, it seems that you get what you pay for. If you have THIS nice of a car and something SO vital to it, I would suggest going with quality material with a quality craftsmanship. When I do this mod, James @ 22elite would be the ONLY way I go with a project of this magnitude. He does amazing work. JMO.

stay and post.

PPI, sometimes the enthusiasm can be a little overwhelming and we do tend to be protective of our supporting vendors.
We also value contributing members so DON'T go away... and if you haven't done so already, check out aspendog's work, it is superb and supporting vendors help make this little forum-world go around

Off topic: Hope you'll join us at our next SoCal meet 6/11... info here

Marlinspike,

Well he is insinuating that I am trying to make profit from selling these, which would have to also mean that im lying when I say that im not selling these. That’s why I could care less if anyone is interested in this. I am whether you or someone else insists that it is probably horrible quality or whatever. The fact is that its just not true. I'm not saying that Chrysler is paired up with the highest quality products, but the fact that Katzkin is the only aftermarket leather manufacturer available through Chrysler must say something positive about the quality of the product.

Thank you Castrol for letting the thread go on.

And WOW! What a diffrence in those pictures. I have to get some leather seats now. And besides, It's a good excuse to add heated seats at the same time.

I just posted that so that i was just trying to provide u an example and not trying u down size or anything of that matter. I understand that u are not selling this product but sometimes thats not what mods might think about it. I was just trying to help you and i am sorry that u misunderstood me on my part.

I know it wasnt a fine example but i am just posting from what i read.

FWIW Katskinz does not produce leather or does Chrysler use "Katskinz" leather. They both purchase hides from different tanneries across the world. I am sure Chrysler would not need to pucrchase leather from Katskinz, they purchase in such quantities they go direct to the tanneries. We have been doing custom interiors for 28 years and know Katskinz products well. We have installed many of thier kits. Like I said before for $700 you would need to question the quality of materials/fittment/etc. I am not slamming Katskinz but thier quality of fitment is average to poor at least from my experience. It all depends on what you want, how picky you are, and obvoiusly how much you are willing to pay for quality. I will say this, if you get an entire leather interior from Katskinz, regardless of quality, for $700 it is a good VALUE.

I'm not intending on stepping on a supporting vendors toes here and im not selling these kits. I'm just offering to try and set this up so that we can have custom leather and a lower price point.

I'm not sure what to attribute the price difference to. I know that Katzkin is a major manufacturer of leather seats. I don't know if their costs are lower and more systematized.

Well...I guess I'm just used to a different style of leather. I'm would say that what I've seen of the Katzkin stuff indicates that it is about the quality of the stock leather, so I guess just take that however you want to take it. I guess I shouldn't have said it's bad quality, but that it's not going to be better quality.

I hope these pictures show the average to poor fittment I was talking about (see the wrinkiling, stretching, etc.), but for $700 it is a VALUE, just depends on your level of expectation. Obviously there are those that think a custom suit from Foley's is nice but in comparison to an Armani there are many differences that some do not see or care to pay for.

This is not necessary IMO. Please stick around and continue to contribute.
