beware of alcohol

I used some prep alcohol to clean the surface of the dashboared/fascia to install a cell phone holder on my deep jade surface- guess what? the alcohol causes the color to run! Fortunately I did not "do" a large area, but there was discoloration with the alc pad coming out green! I though the color of plastics is an intrinsic property- not something that's been sprayed on ! The color coming off looked like the plastic had been painted .. Arrrgh!

I thought this was a Alcoholics Anonymous public service anouncement thread.

I messed mine up too, but later wiped it down with the Lexol Vinolex and it seemed to even out. No problem now.

Rubbing alcohol will discolor the seats....

I tried to get a pen mark off. Made a slight light mark.

Anybody got a better way to get pen out of the seats?

Amodex will get the pen out, I THINK (but don't know) without damaging the leather. You could first try it somewhere inconspicuous. You should be able to find it in most pen stores, but if you cant...www.fahrneyspens.com
