Start Push button Mod.

On lxforumes there was a guy who was going to install a Mercedes benz shift knob that has a start push button, it also lets you keep the key in your pocket or some thing that is similar to the MB's system and I am really interested in this mod, So any of you guys know how to get it done or could help with the issue?

BTW this is the link to the original thread on lxforums.com but at this time there is a problem with the site.

That would be very interesting and expensive mod to do. I think it would require to rewire most of the electrical, ignition, alaram, door locks, etc. KeyLess Go is pretty much hardwired into everything.

If someone does make a kit and/or shows us how to do it, I would be happy to try it. I love KeyLess Go on my S500... and I would love to have it on my 300C

Too bad we did not get this as an option along with LED tail lights. Even Caddy has these features. I would surmise that if remote start can be added, keyless go could too. You can get anything you want if you have are willing to pay for it. After all these add ons, you could have just bought a CLS for those $$$

It actually wouldn't require any rewiring - only reprogramming. The actual position of any switch in the vehicle is irrelevant. It only requires the right commands on the CAN bus.

Case in point - I accidently turned on my lights, wipers, stereo and instrumentation while "playing" on the CAN bus. No key in the ignition - only my laptop plugged into the car.

I'll have to add the keyless mod to my list of CAN enhancements to do.

JohnW, so are you trying to figure out the signals of the can bus on your own? That's pretty cool..

Yeah, with a system like ours, you could have a module plug into the can bus that would start the car, the last obsticle left is the SKIMS in the key, which the car can be tricked easily just as the same as it's done with a remote start... Can't believe someone hasn't made a kit like this for aftermarket yet... No reason it couldn't be put in lots of cars..... Give DEI a few years.......

Yes, I've created a plug-in CAN interface on my car. I've already decoded the steering wheel controls and am currently working on all the "modes" of the head unit.

I think the only reason there isn't a bunch of products out already is that Chrysler is licensing their protocol and it's probably costing big $$$. Reverse engineering the data packets is extremely time consuming and for all the third party product makers, time is money.

I guss if you can get into the can-bus you can get it done easily so if you can do it please inform us so we can get this done.

BTW the mod is not that expensive coz you can get the parts from any scrap yard here and for a really cheap price so in my case I don't think I would have a problem in getting a shifter from a MB S350 or S320 and the parts that are needed from a canceled car in the scrap cozwe have alot of them here.
