UConnect Bluetooth

I just returned for the fourth time from the daler after they installed the UConnect upgrade to the 300C. It failed to operate the first two times with everyone blaming the Nextel Blackberry for the failure. UConnect support said that it was not compatible with the BB 7520. I would even classify their help desk as nasty. The second trip to the dealer was a waste of time and I drove away out 400 bucks and still no working unit. I called UConnect again and after I noted that I had no problem with my phone and a Toyota I own, they referred me to the Manufacturer. They were super. I was told what software I needed to have on my Blackberry and I uploaded it. It still didn’t fix the problem. The phone would complete the pairing with the car now but the car would respond with “Phone not available” every time I would try to make a call. I called them back and told them what I had done and that I was still with a non working unit. I was contacted by an engineer who quickly took me through several steps and determined that my unit was either installed wrong or defective. A third trip to the dealer had more success. They replaced the unit and every thing started to work. So we all deducted that the first unit was defective. Two lays later I was back to square one. The phone look connected but the car didn’t react with it. Back to the dealer again and we finely found the problem. It turns out that the installer had connected the unit to a 12 volt supply that was always on. After some time the unit would lock up and the connection to the phone would fail. They reconnected the unit to a switched circuit and now the unit restarts each time the car is started. Time will tell if it is truely fixed.

hey charlie, im seriously contimplating getting uconnect installed on my C. i currently have a t-mobil sidekick II which im suprised is not bluetooth compatiable. perhaps when t-mobil or someone else comeout out with a nice PDA bluetooth cellphone i will get it. your experience makes me a little weary of getting it from my dealer, not to mention ive never fooled around with it in a 300 before. if you have NAV will your caller ID and such appear on your NAV screen when someone calls or you place a call? once i find out a little more about all the features and if this will actually be useful to me ill order it. for those of you that have unconnect and navigation, what do you think?

UConnect 2

The UConnect is a voice recognition system that responds to voice commands like Dial and Call. It is a little tedious and you have to wait for it to complete its list of menu items before you can react to it. It has a female voice and I can tell you now I’ll never fall in love with her. Too stupid. I don’t have the built in Nav I put a Garmin in after the fact. The after sale product uses all add on devices including a button pad and a microphone. It plugs up to the radio system and mutes the sound and uses the left front speaker. You need to program the phone list into the unit one number at a time by speaking the number. If there is any ambient sound it may interpret it as extra digits. You can use the phone to initiate the call and then the system will take over. I got to give her a name!

SO SO SO Dissatisfied (spelling? lol)

Basically I called two chrysler dealerships nobody has any idea how it installs or if the calls come over your navigation screen or anything.... so i called Uconnect the company..... basically they said if it didnt come installed in your car already.... your calls wont come over your nav screen, even if you get the aftermarket add on.... and instead of the controls being built into your rearview mirror you get this little 3inch by one inch control pad, where theres no location for it to go.... i asked if theres anyway i can have it installed as if it was factory, so it comes up over the screen and possibly replacing my rear view mirror, the woman said no.... of course the woman also sounded like her dog died so i think she could careless about helping me find a way to do it..... OBVIOUSLY its doable because the parts OBVIOUSLY exist, id jus have to find out whats all involved in connectingit to the navigation so it comes over your screen... and maybe a ew rearview mirror or somethinn.... all in all lack of knowledge is the main dissappointment in this product for chrysler...

I currently have the BB7520 with my UConnect system and can say that it works perfectly... Before with the previous software I had trouble with echo and it is now working fine.. I have the factory installed system.

I can skip her talking and go straight to the voice input by pressing my secondary button, the one next to the uconnect button, does the aftermarket system have this or is there only one button on the pad?

The woman was giving it to you straight, you will have a difficult time trying to integrate the factory system after the fact and if you could it may be very pricey.

I have the after-market one and it works great!!!!

Anyone have a blue tooth and a treo?

I have a treo 600. Its not bluetooth enabled. Was told that I could buy a Jabra bluetooth adapter for the phone and use the factory installed Uconnect. Any advice/suggestions?

My understanding is that it won't work, you have to get a bluetooth phone.

If you do a search this subject is buried in our archives somewhere.

Do any of you have any specific experience with Uconnect and any Verizon phone? I've read some reviews of their Bluetooth phones that are not so great.

Hi 300sea,
I am ordering a 2006 300C in the next few days, but I have a new Pacifica with the same uConnect system. I use Verizon with a Motorola v710 Bluetooth phone. It isn't that the phones aren't great ... its that Verizon likes to cripple some of the features of the phone (OBEX, transflash card ringtone file transfer, etc.).

However, the phone works FINE with uConnect. Voice quality on both ends is good and the phone integrates well. Of course, you can't just transfer your phonebook from the phone to the uConnect system - you have to manually enter each phone entry into the uConnect system.

Hope this helps,
Mike
