Treo 650 & Bluetooth

I just purchased a Palm Treo 650 from Verizon, it will pair to the factory Uconnect in my car and seems to work fine. But the display for battery and signal strength doesn't work. Is there an update available so that will work? Also is there any way to send my contact list from my phone to the Uconnect?

Thanks!

hey pwdr......off topic, how is the treo 650? i currently have a t-mobil sidekick II, and after owning this phone i will never again buy a phone without a full keyboard. i have only played with the treo in the stores, and have not fully evaluated how it works, but have heard from many sales reps that the sidekick II is better is some respects.
i often use the AIM on my sidekick, and was wondering if the treo had AIM that could run while using other functions on the phone?
does it have a internet browser that i can view full web pages on? (im able to view this site on my phone adn read threads when im bored)
also i heard it has a mp3 player....hows that work?

.....sorry this may seem alot to ask, but i would rather get an honest opinion from someone who has the phone, and not a sales rep. the main reason i want the phone is so i can use it with uconnect, as i have never used it. if you get a chance, please let me know what you think!

-to answer your question, i think it is possible to 'speak' all of your contacts into the uconnect, seems kind of time consuming tho.

lennox... So far I really like it. I miss a couple of things my old phone had that this doesn't. Mostly speed dial. I really miss just being able to push "5 send" etc. This one I can set it up to hold down a digit and dial, but it's a pain to set up and I would rather do it the old way. It also won't let me scroll through the call log without using the touch screen, I can't use the navigation keys. Not really a big deal, but kinda a nuisance. It does have a web browser that works pretty good, but it is slow. I only get about a 70k connection. Salesman told me I would see close to 256k. I need to ask them about that. I haven't tried MP3's yet, you do need an adapter if you want to hook up regular headphones, since the jack is set up for a mic/headphone. The bluetooth Uconnect is nice. I'm not overly fond of the voice prompts in Uconnect though, it takes quite a bit longer than the Onstar in my pickup. I find myself dialing from the phone, then the call connects to the car automatically. Not too mention the hassle of loading my 100+ contact list manually... and it takes waaaaay to long to dial a number digit by digit. not to mention I generally have to look it up on the phone anyway. I am using an external antenna on the phone which really makes a big difference. The coverage isn't all that great without it, then again Verizon isn't all that strong in Montana anyway. The wireless sync for email etc. is very slick, they keyboard is actually quite easy to use, I prefer it over the old style where you have to use the stylus for everything.

I noticed Palm has an update for the phone to work with uconnect etc available for sprint, I'm hoping they will have one to work with Verizon soon. The phone has only been out for Verizon for a few weeks. I have a phone number for Palm I'm going to call tomorrow.

Hope that helps!

I have been reading on this forum http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/forum...hp?forumid=166 might find some good reading

What is up with Uconnect?

I have a treo 600 with sprint and am pretty well convinced that I shouldn't even try to get it to work with the Uconnect. So today, I call Uconnect (The number is in the srt8 owner's manual) and asked if the treo 650 works with the system. So many have said it does, but then make posts about problems. Uconnect told me that the treo 650 will not work no matter the service provider. Told me that with sprint there were about 2 or 3 phones. One was the blackberry and the other a LG model.

Ok, so truth be told, does the 650 work-should I pay the 3 big ones to upgrade from the 600 to 650? More importantly will the Sprint-Nextel cause a whole new line of phones that make the treo 650 obsolete in the next 12-18 months?

I work for Sprint, Nextel and T-Mobile, as it stands right now Sprint and Nextel are releasing their 1st phone together come September. I have been told that Nextel Customers will need new phones, but I was also told not to tell Nextel customers that. So in noway shape or form am I advising anyone with Nextel to switch to Sprint. With that said you will be able to use your treo 650 with the merger, and yes the treo 650 does work with uconnect. Also how in the world are you only paying 3 big ones for a Treo 650??
