How to lock the center console?

Has anybody put a lock on their center console?

I'd like to, but don't know where to start. I was thinking like a latch lock on the side, but I really want something hidden. And where the open latch is on these cars makes it challenging.

And if I could have my cake and eat it too, I'd love to get such a lock keyed to my factory ignition key... if the dealer could even do that.

So, anybody know of any options, anybody ever done this, anybody have any ideas?

As always, thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks Gucci.

I have a crazy plan for the console, but before I even think about doing it I would really need to have the ability to lock it. And if it is an add-on DIY visible lock, I feel that it would even draw more attention to someone peeking in and wanting to know what is kept inside.

But, I can't even find any aftermarket options. I could live with the extra key. In looking around, I see that they were made for Jeeps and the Sebring convertible (obviously so people couldn't just reach in if the top is down). Any idea of who would sell something like this?

An electromagnetic lock could be cool. A normally closed lock. Wired up to switched 12v (ACC) would unlock it when the ignition is turned on. No need for another key.

Would such a lock interfere with any electronics that I put inside the console?? That whole ACC idea sounds pretty slick - would love to pull it off somehow.

Hmmmm... Does that lock though? Thought that just pushes the door after it is electronically unlatched, no?

Haha! No diamonds for me... but I do have a pretty cool plan I think. Will disclose if I can pull it off.

Unfortunately, I can't claim that is what I need it for.
