I am getting ready to make a very long road trip in May. I have 3 ADHD kids (I'm actually joking -- sort of), and want to keep them occupied on the trip. Thus, I think I am going to put in a DVD unit with some headrest LCD monitors. I have been looking (shopping) online. I found a set I like, but am concerned that they may not fit.
The specs say 160mm to 180mm (outer) between posts. So, ASSUMING that means outside to outside.. we take the measurement of 6" between posts + 1/2 the width of the posts 7/16 times 2 = 6 7/16" and convert it to mm.... I come up with 163mm. That is close-- and scary considering I am dealing with a Hong Kong company and returns would be difficult.
I am asking for others' opinions... and has anyone else used these particular headrests in their cars. Hopefully, this is doable, and I have done my math right! Please chime in...

That seems pretty expensive, especially for shipping. I purchased mine here. MP3PlayerStore.com MP3 Player, Car DVD Players & TFT/LCD Monitor. I'm actually exchanging mine today as 1 or both were either defective or damaged in shipping. I'll let you know how the replacements work out.

Doesn't seem expensive to me actually... would be $285 for the pair with the video signal booster.... ($199 is for a pair).

Anybody? I plan to make a decision tonight... Also, any thoughts on 8" vs. 9.2"? I can get 8" LCD's with carbon fiber (very similar to the center bezel) for $225....

Here is a post from Mr. Incredible about his 8” headrest monitors. I believe you can see them in the second link. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.
Good luck on your decision. I'd be very interested to know what you went with. I'm still looking for the head rest tv's that call my name. Nothing yet though.

The 8" units have a 4:3 aspect ratio, and the 9" have 4:3 and 16:9... I think it is going to depend on what player I get.
I have an indian casino here-- and I have $444 worth of player's club points... So I am going to use the points to get a "FREE" DVD player. I think I will be getting a Sony 8" unit (that has 2 outputs and supports 16:9). It they have it "in stock" I will probably go with the 9" I have linked in the 1st post. If not, I would go with the "carbon fiber" 8's and save myself $60.
That listed vendor sells both kinds on eBay and has a good rating as well. It looks like they are a Hong Kong manufactuer... so I would prefer to go straight with them rather than through some "New Jersey Electronics Schlock House."
Regardless-- whatever I get is sure to keep the kiddies happy...
BTW is 4:3 and 16:9 different?! It is the same ratio after all!

the tvs I put in my headrests are 7" and they barely fit - probably a little too big, but still look ok. I don't think 8" will fit in our stock headrests. I can go take a pic of mine if you want.?

These I am looking at COME WITH the headrests..... already done... they just plug into the holes of the old headrests... hopefully the color will be close.
