Jeez, I think you made your point. I get what you're saying but not everyone can afford to have their hoods customized so the next best thing is these eyelids.

wow..always amazes me the amount of stick on gaudy "mods" people will buy... what a way to cheapen hemmisseys actual custom work...
I don't think that at all. In fact, I appreciate Andy's car so much more knowing the amount of work that went into it. Would I prefer a "custom" mod or one of TommyZ's new hoods? Hell YES!! I fell in love with Hemm's car the first time I saw it in Irvine but it's just not a reality for me right now.
Another nice thing about gaudy stick-on mods is if/when I get tired of it, I pop it off and everything is back to normal again.

I agree with you. Besides, there is a place and time for these "stick on" mods. Some of them are just totally tacky and should be banned - but some are actually tasteful recreations of awsome custom work. You know, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Would I like for TZ to make me a hood like kidcoastal's, hell yes. Can I afford to spend north of $1200 on a new hood right now - hell no. I may not go with the eyelids, but they are by far not that bad.

so the only people who can have that look are people who can afford custom hoods? they say that imitation is the best form of flattery. when i had my maxima, i had carbon fiber "angry" style eyelids that were no longer made. they were extremely difficult, at best, to come by. a company started making carbon fiber LOOK eyelids that stuck on the headlight. they were the same as mine, but a cheap sticker that cost 1/5 of the carbon fiber ones. i didnt get angry with the people buying them, or saying they copied my car but were cheapening it. it was nice to know that people thought enough of your car to want theirs similar. of course mine we real carbon fiber, theres were a sticker, and people in the know knew the difference. hemmisseys custom hood and stick on eyelids could never be confused with each other. he has even posted in this thread commenting about the eyelids!
by this same rationale, no one should have 1 piece deep dish wheels, because they look like, but arent, 3 piece wheels. no one should have T-rex grilles because they resemble (or try to) Struts. hell, no one should have an SRT Design Group because it 'cheapens' those of us who have SRT8s.
