Switching to HID question

I was trying to do some research on my own and please tell me if this is correct. WHen you switch to HIDs, you need to install all of those ballasts and bulbs, but is it true you need to buy the projector headlights? because i heard without it you will just be a road hazard and blind everyone if it isn't focused with the projector thing..

another thing if someone didnt mind answering heehee
Eventually I wanted to get the xenon kit and if I wanted to add foglights would that be a very big hassle since my car is a 300 and does not have foglights?

Thank you anyone for your input

Jay

Yes, you will need the ballasts, basically because there is no filament inside these lamps, the light is provided by an arc between two electrodes and this requires one hell of a kick start these ballasts step up the voltage to create the arc. Generally there are two ballasts one for each light unit, but this may vary on each car maker.

Not sure of the law where you are, but putting in HID into the fog lights could cause you problems, the fog lamps are displacement / difuse lenses designed to not to cause 'bounce back' in fog conditions, due to the nature and intensity of the HID units I would er on the side of caution and not do it, they also do not put HID in main beams because of the initial startup, HID's blink before stabilising not good in high beam solutions.

Hope that helps, UK guy helping out

I have just upgraded my fogs to HIDs and they look awesome!!! Running dual HIDs at night is like daytime!

Install is EASY...anyone can do it with a little thought. Most kits are plug and play so only require replacing a bulb and hooking up the live and ground wires.

I already have HIDs for my low beams from the factory, but I havent heard of people having to switch out headlights because of the projector - actually isnt the projector part of the headlight the same, just the housing is different to accomodate the HID ballast. Just buy the correct bulb size and you should be ok.

FWIW I went with the AAC kit and couldnt be happier.

Yeah I was planning on putting that Xenon fascia kit because I liked the shape of the C's eyes, there is no rectangle light at the bottom. and yeah I think the projector is part of the headlight, I usually see the angel/halo headlights with the projector lens. Anyways thank you for your input!

PM me for price if you want them.

I myself run our HID kit in a few vehicles whose headlights are not designed with HID kits in mind. I have had no issues at all. The key is to aim your headlights a little lower as to not blind oncoming traffic.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'd like to send you a PM, but I cant quite figure it out yet, and I gotta goto bed cuz I work in the morning lol..so I gave up...just wondering if I can buy a projector light housing for my 07 Limited and then get the bulbs and ballast...if thats how it works...I looked on your page and the headlights you advertise for my car ar different then the ones my car came with. I have signals in my headlight housing... So yeah just wondering what I need to get a true HID lighting system for my headlights and if I can get the projector housings for my 07 as well. Thanks, Ken
