This is Pedro posting,
Before we picked up the phone and had a serious talk with the factory. I did some investigation. We received a blown capacitor from a LX customer and I dismantled it to make
sure that they were not soldered incorrectly or basically "wired backwards" by the factory by mistake.
I was able to verify that the "failed" capacitor was indeed wired correctly and properly soldered and insulated.
We not only sell these kits to LX customers as you may know and we have shipped well over 100 kits at this point for various applications.
A few late model
BMW's also required the capacitors. We have never received a complaint about a capacitor failure. They have all cured the flickering problems in the BMW's.
Mercedes customers (as we also sponsor mbworld.org forum) also reported flickering. A quick trip to the dealer for a ECU re-flash cured their problems as the ECU actually "relearns" as it boots up and realizes that the car is now equipped with HID's. On 2 occasions on older Mercedes a quick install of the capacitors fixed any flicker issues. Again with all the kits we have sold we received
0 capacitor failures.
On goofytim posted his install guide of our kit.

on his post you can see he instructs you to "reverse" the connection. He reports that the lights will simply not work.

"Fortunately, the contact pins within the power connector are not keyed to a particular orientation for the coupling. So the easy “fix” is simply to put the coupling together backwards, i.e., the security clip and the security pins on opposite sides."

So at this point, I would have to conclude that for whatever reason Chrysler wired the LX cars backwards. It does not appear to be our capacitors being incorrectly wired. You might want to say then "You guys should just wire the capacitors "reversed" so we don't have this issue. Unfortunately like I mentioned earlier in the post we sell this capacitor for use in Mercedes, BMW and many other models. So since LX cars seam to be the exception we have to keep them wired normal and advise our LX customer to flip the connector per GoofyTim's post above.
Now, "how come Tim's capacitor didn't blow up and mine did?" Well I can only surmise that Tim only quickly turn his lights on and verified that they didn't turn on and then switched them off. While maybe the other customer left them on long enough to overheat and fail. Now I have never tested this so it might take seconds or mins. Either way please don't try to find out. Simply follow Tim's instructions or our pamphlet.
On our part,
#1 - We are working on replacing free of charge any damaged kits and capacitors from customers having unknowingly plugged them in incorrectly.
(if you have any outstanding issues please call us or email me directly
pedro@stealthauto.com )
#2 - We now include a flyer/pamphlet warning LX customers to install the plug reversed. It has a great clear diagram and is VERY well explained. Thank you very much to the a board member and customer that supplied us with the correction and a flyer. We now include it with every LX kit. (some of you might of already gotten this flyer in your shipment)
#3 - We have also put an advisory on our HID product page and on the capacitor pages on our website.
Apart from that I want to clarify/remind that we do include the capacitor
FREE if you own a 300c car. We are the ONLY vendor I'm aware of that do this. It really does cost us real money to make these.....In fact we do sell them by themselves for $20 each.
See them for sale by themselves on our site here (in case your current brand X kit is flickering)
I hope 300C consumers will recognize the added value this offers them and that we appreciate their continued loyalty and business. We decided to absorb the added cost of offering these capacitors because we wanted to make the community happy with our service and products.
In sum.....
AT this point
any anti-flicker capacitor that is pluged in incorrectly will overheat and fail. This was reported over on lx forums, different brand of hid and capacitor and the same result when plugged in incorrectly.
