re:hid lowbeam shock on install or uninstall?

Hello,
Im new here and have 300c with a headlight prob,the dealer wants a lot of money to change a hid module with transformer dis type.The manual in my car says there is a danger of shock if I try to change it myself.Any one help me here with this.

Humm...well the service manual says the ballast converts 12 volt DC to 800 volts AC. No idea what the amps are though, but that IS important. It does give this warning:

WARNING: The headlamp unit must be removed to perform these tests (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/LAMPS/
LIGHTING - EXTERIOR/HEADLAMP UNIT - REMOVAL). Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death.

I didn't like the death part!
