HID High Beam yay/nay

I am about to order some HIDs from hidgate. I am waiting for an email back for fog+low beam w slim balast. Should I get a kit for my high beam? Other question is I am interested in halo from AAC should I send my fog+headlights out before I have my HIDs installed. thanks

i dont think getting them for the high beams is necessary although some members in here do have them i think, it doesnt matter if you have them installed before or after.

Some members have done it and they do like it. However, the design of the reflective housing for the high beam doesn't project the light as well on to the road and, from what I've read, the HID high beam isn't as impressive a difference as the low beam. And it's not totally because of the projector vs. composite difference between the low and high beam, the highs just have a very small surface area to reflect against.
Plus, between the HID lows/fogs, I get flashed too often to wait for the high beam to warm up to signal they aren't on to oncoming drivers. I'm about ready to start keeping a 3 million candle power spotlight on the passenger seat

DO IT!! i just put some 5000k's in my high's and its a night and day difference compared to the lows. I would recommend that you aim your headlights after to get the best performance..

why did you go with 5000k high and 8000k lows?

I wouldn't suggest it. You need that "instant on" when you flash your hi-beams to get the attention of whatever is in front of you. With the HID's, it takes a while for them to warm up to full brightness, so you'll get a dim flicker from the HID's when you flash. Besides, I would think that flashing the HID's will do a number on your ballasts/inverters... I Have 6000k's on my fogs and lows and never even had the need to use my hi beams... just my .02 cents.

ok thanks for the input. I am awaiting email from hidgate as I dont want to order the wrong part. I am wanting 8000k low+fog with the mini ballast. Light output is same quality with smaller ballast, correct?
