REJ Head Unit Illumination (or not!)

This may be a bit simple for some of the technically gifted on the forum but I'm struggling.

My head unit & sat nav all works properly but the buttons are no longer illuminated. Is there a fix I can do myself because the dealer is quoting ridiculous amounts just to 'take a look' and not guaranteeing that they can fix it.

Wow, that looks complicated.

There has been a development, now the bottom right corner lights up ... but flickers! It's more annoying than having no lights on at all.

Not sure if I can tackle the colour change job but thanks for the article, at least I can see how to get at it.
