I'm not concerned about the weather there. Anything is better than here. It's what's in between here & there with F1's I'm worried about. I can just see me going 10 mph through snow.

Rambit,
You might want to go to the website below and record the phone numbers of the states you will be traveling through along the way. Each state has a posted phone number of up-to-date, very current highway conditions that include anything from closures, detours, road construction, weather conditions, chain or 4-wheel drive requirements, and alternate routes.
Each state might handle the automated phone calls differently so you might want to do some sample calls just to get a feel. For instance, if you call the one for California, you only need to state the highway number you want information on and a current recording automatically plays.
Californians are use to using this number (1-800-427-ROAD) for current highway conditions but the website lists a different phone number. I called that one and it ends up being the exact same recording format.
I’m not sure you will have internet access on your road trip but figure you won’t leave home without your cell phone for this assistance.
Anyway, I hope this helps alleviate some genuine concerns you have.

Thank you for your post bruno. It's very nice of you to have provided it. I'll definately keep it in mind. I haven't entered the destination in my nav yet, but I did a quick mapquest route and seem to recall one of the places I'd be going through is Chicago. From there I really can't remember what's after that. No big deal. Point me in the direction and I'll take it as it comes. The more south I go, chances are the warmer it'll get. I'll just listen to the girl in the nav and turn when she says "Right turn in 300 meters" or whatever. I know this has drifted (hopefully not snow drifts) off topic a lot. Thanks again.

You’re welcome. You are very trusting with Mapquest and I appreciate your sense of adventure in allowing the Navigational System to get you here in a timely and safe manner.. AAA also provides maps of more direct routes rather than scenic ones. Sorry for going off-topic....

I know it's off-topic. The AAA maps they provide have always been dead on, through my years of road travels. What I like about them is you can request the most direct route. They are also sent to you in a spiral bound note pad size but about 8" long. I forget but each page represents a certain mileage and offers a more close up view which comes in handy when you are flying, I mean driving. Lol.

You should've got the nav Freebird!!! No maps, no nagging, just go and turn when SHE tells you. SHE's ALWAYS right too. It's just like being married!

...NO alcohol
Uhoh!
You know something RS, I contemplated bringing her, but the thought of Emma sitting on my lap the whole way and whining changed my mind real quick. Not to mention the hair.

Just didn't want to have it. Plus I was making the suggestion for you, since you are crossing the US at such an angle. For me it is one interstate the entire ride from my street to LA. I-10 W. I don't think I will get lost on this trip, lol, I used to live in Florida (Boca Raton) and took I-10 E. I know this interstate very well.
Plus I will be with all of you in CA and if we go rolling, I know most of you have the nav. so I will not be far from one of you, lol.

REMINDER:
The food order was finalized on the 16th and cannot be changed.
All Registered participants receive one lunch courtesy of Foothill Ranch, and that participant will receive one ticket at the registration table.
Wrist band and participant badges are required to purchase additional guest lunch tickets - one per person.
IF you pre-ordered lunch for your guest(s) they will be included on the the Catering List at the registration table - please purchase your additional tickets at the time you register. If possible, these participants are asked to have lunch during the earlier part of the serving time - 11:30 to 1:30 - so we may begin selling additional tickets at 1:30 to others who forgot to order if there is enough to continue serving.
The caterer plans for a small percentage more guests than orders placed, and we will most likely have no-shows, but we can only sell additional tickets IF the caterer can accomodate us. We remain optimistic but since we cannot promise there will be enough to serve those guests for which there was no pre-order, we suggest you have an alternate plan... bring an ice chest with drinks and snacks just to be safe since you can't leave in your car and return. You could also walk to the Doubletree, but FYI, it is a bit on the pricey side.
Thanks for understanding, we'll see you on the 25th!
