The painters tape is used to keep the front of the car clean. When I got to Az all I did was pull it off and quick detail the car. There is no tape residue left over and comes right off.

That definetely makes sense and I see why you put it on your car, I'm just trying to figure out the tape on the SRT-8 Magnum.

Was it holding his front lip spoiler on? Did he swap a new one on in the parking lot?

When we left Blyth the SRT- Mag was catching air and the plastic covering was pulling down. We taped it to keep it from tearing off. Bob past us doing about a 115 or more and noticed the plastice flapping under the car. We had the same problem with sweeper6 car on the way home and had to tape it off.

This trip was awesome, we will do it again no doubt.

As fatchance stated, Matt, the issue is grabbing air, not asphalt. The aerodynamic loads get pretty intense at elevated speeds, and apparently the factory isn't anchoring the fascia on at least some of our rides as well as they should.

I'll post up pics later of the lower RF fascia cheek popping out an inch and a half or so on my sweet C shortly after her runs to 172 mph.

Very interesting....This is the first I've heard of that. It's cool though because it shows how much downforce is being distributed across the front end of the car. It's apparently a very important piece.

I heard of someone else at the meet seeing their hood flapping at 165 which is the first I've heard of that also.

That would be Mr. cbutler who saw movement in the hood at a very high speed. But that did not seem to be a problem when he exceeded that speed the following day... but they will have to comment on that as I did not witness the event.

That red duct tape looks like one huge sticky mess! That's too bad about flapping body parts! Glad nothing else was further damaged from all you speed demons!
