Hi Nick
Really sorry not to have got back to you, I didn't spot the PM notification until today, although Roy had said to expect something coming through.
Dipstick procedure doesn't look too bad, although I must say I haven't actually checked mine yet! There's a simple instruction sheet which describes getting the car up to normal operating temperature, then making a few changes back and forwards through the gears before doing the dip reading. That seems to be it.
If you wanted to borrow the stick you'd be welcome.
Sadly my 300 is currently down with Roy, as the ABS light came on a couple of weeks back. Changing the sensor hasn't cured it, so they are systematically working through earthing points, loose connections etc, plus finding out if the sensor on the hub is ok.

Hi Just, Royliz tells me you were kind enough to offer me the use of your transmission dipstick. I had told him I "thought" I had seen an independent Merc/Bmw place in a backstreet somewhere round the Grahams Rd area of Falkirk but couldn't find it again. This was in the hope that they might have the dipstick, thermal gun and temp/level chart for checking my box without me having to sell a kidney to a main dealer to fund it. I was under the impression from the forum that it was not just a simple case of dipping the level as the oil temp had to be factored in also. I would be happy to be advised to the contrary so I can keep the pennies for any of the future jobs the 300c will provide me with. Regards Nick
