Tint Shops - Age old question

Everyone - I'm (finally) getting my windshield replaced on Wed (thanks BMFSRT) and I'm going to do my state inspection right after. So now I want to get my windows tinted, so I won't have to worry about passing inspection for a whole year. I need a place that does ceramic all the way around and doesn't really care about the "reccomended" tint percentages

I called LA Tint in Manassas, and I'm waiting for quotes on a few others, but it's looking like about $300+ all the way around. Anyone get theirs done somewhere better? I'm willing to drive a little ways for someone that does a good job and might not charge as much.

Thanks!

I don’t know how far away you are from Luke…just know you guys communicate occasionally. Here is Luke’s thread on where he got his tinted back in Jan. Don’t know if it helps or not. Look forward to seeing some pics of the completed job.

Already sent him a txt on it Danno He told me about a place he was gonna try out but I couldn't remember what the name of it was, I'm gonna call them up as well. I talk to luke's lazy ass about once a week, lol. He only lives about 40 mins away from me.

LA Tint- Woodbridge

I had the work done at the LA Tint near Potomac Mills in Woodbridge; actually they did my 300 and my wife's Sebring Convertible. Was very pleased with the quality of the work. I had the Driver's and Passenger windows done "just barely legal" and the rest more dark. If the Manassas location is as good as the Woodbridge store, you'll be pleased with the results. FYI, (and if you even care) the police will stop you for too much tint as a primary violation.

I got a place out here near where I live at in Waldorf that just quoted me $145 on Saturday to do 20% all around on my car. They will give you a lifetime warranty and will do "ANY" shade you want all the way down to 5% I think was the lowest they had. It would actually be cheaper but the previous owner of my car must've had tint and they did not take the tint off right out of the rear glass so I think they were charging me an extra $20 to take the glue residue out before tinting it. Oh and I had asked him about removing the 3rd brake light because I wanted the whole rear glass tinted and he said that they would charge an extra $60 to remove, tint and reinstall the rear panel.

I don't know about ceramic, but my local shop did the four sides and rear of the H.E. at 40% (35% legal limit in WV) for $150. I don't think the tint% made a difference in the cost... The 35% tint for the two side windows of the MSRT8 was only $50.

CplD: I know I'm not in your area, but the local FormulaOne dealer (the only authorized FormulaOne shop in Houston) quoted $400 for their 18% Pinnacle series on all 4 windows and windshield. I'm not going to use them only b/c a few of the local guys on here hooked me up w/ their super special tint man

G'luck

Thanks Tracy... I think it's the tint that's making the price go up... ceramic ain't cheap apparently.

Marcos - PM me the number for that shop, will ya?

$300+ is looking a little more steep than I really wanted, but I really have to go w/ ceramic since I'm going to be running so much comm gear outta my car.
