Altitude sickness

I don't know if this is the right section, this or mid-west. I'd consider Colorado more Southwest than Midwest. Any how this has probably been discussed before but I was wondering how much the altitude affects these cars. My car will barely chirp the tires at home (7000 ft) but where I go to school (Hour outside Lincoln NE around 1600 ft) it is another story the car moves at a decent pace for an old 3.0 V6. We've had other vehicles that aren't effected by the altitude as much asthis one, the altitude kills it.

Thanks

Oops, looks like I still did the post in the Mid-West forum instead of Southwest. Sorry if there was any confusion, oh well. I know some of you have driven over the Rockies and Sierras and know whats going on.
