I know you're just joking but a convoy can be a lot of fun. I was in one in 1976 that left from Winnipeg, Manitoba and ended in St Paul, Minnesota. There were over 200 Street Rods in it and it was about 6 miles in length. To say it was a site to be hold is an understatement. When we crossed the border into the U.S. we just flat shut it down until they got us through. Customs had a heck of a time. On the highway we had to take care of ourselves, but when we got to St Paul we had an escort to the State Fair Grounds for the US Street Rod Nationals. Again these can be loads of fun.

Hey it sounds like you all have the right idea. The meet we had in Socal turned out great and it was a pleasure meeting good folk. Some exchanged ideas and others networked. Either way it was a great time. Hope all works out for you guys.

I am in the Peoria area, and to get to starved rock, you will pretty much have to drive right by me! WE could plan on meeting in Bloomington, as I assume you will drive up 55 to 39?

Anyone else coming from Missouri, So. Ill, or Western IL/Iowa? be nice to have a bit of a caravan.

Is there a proposed date yet?

Jamesw.
As I said earlier, all of us from down state will met in Bloomington for the final trip north. Can you put together a meeting location for folks in the St Louis area for the first leg of the trip to Bloomington? This same thing goes for those of you that wish to come from the Champaign and Mattoon and areas southeast in Illinois

I was talking to the Wife and we were planing to do a weekend away for her B-day that happens to be that same weekend May 21/22. So we looked into places to stay. What are everybodies plans for going? For some it's not a long drive but some might want to stay over. If there is interest i could look into maybe getting some rates? They have a convetion center also and maybe we could do a dinner? Here is the link to the Starved Rock Lodge. There the only lodge in the park.

Eric,

The Lodge and out Cabins there at Straved Rock are real nice. I wouldn't call them 5 star, but they are along the line of a nice Holiday Inn. In the past with the Impala SS clubs we had a nice afternoon cook out in the park by the river. Everone from the different clubs brought a dish and the host club would supply the meat and drinks. I sort of thought that could be a nice thing for the 300's to do also. I don't believe that everyone may want to do a formal sit down dinner. I could be incorrect what does everyone think? Everyone, please let Eric or myself know so we can make plans.

OK MS

I was thinking of weather issues is all. But yea cook out is much more to my liking. And since this your idea does that mean your buying the steak.
Do they have grills?

Eric,

I'll do the burgers and dogs if you do the Pepsi and coke and ice. Remember we are driving 4dr sedans so that could mean more than 2 people per car. With the Impalas we figured on enough pop and grub for about 100+ people. Also are we still going to include the Magnum folks?

Mike

P.S. Yes they have grills, but I'll bring my own.
