Attention: Major Business Change in 2007!!!

Attention Forum Members:

New Mopar Parts System – Effective January 1st, 2007

DaimlerChrysler is implementing a new Mopar parts system that goes into effect on January 1st, 2007. This new system is going to change the way of how dealerships will continue to conduct their daily business. Some dealerships will not be ready, and many will be ready for the launch of the new system. We have been working hard in determining the factors of this new business system and how it will affect our current business practices. We like to keep our customers informed, so that is why we are posting this information on the forums we support. Some of the details of how this new system will change some of our business follow.

The new Mopar parts system will be doing away with promotional orders, stock order discounts, and incentive discounts. This means that the dealerships will no longer be able to place volume discount orders using promos that were available to them in the past. These promos would offer discounts off of their normal acquisition costs in percentages anywhere from 8% to 30% depending on the items Mopar allowed. We have in the past utilized these promo’s to offer volume group purchases by extending the discount directly to our customers. Volume purchases such as the Mopar Long Tube Headers, Cold Air Intakes, V6 accessory dual exhaust kits, and many more items. Normally a dealership would just use these types of orders and keep the discounts as profit on the back end of the sale. Some dealerships that are active and competitive would use these to lower the cost of the products directly to the consumers. We have always been the latter of the two described and have extended these discounts to this forum and others.

With the implementation of this new system, there will be a learning curve as we adjust to the rules. We will have to cut out the group buys on Mopar parts until we can get a feel of how this new system will work for our business. Also, several items we currently sell are based off of the available promotional orders that are still available and are priced to reflect this. Those items will be raised to due to the costs being higher with the new system.

We have a plan in place on what we will be able to do, and when we can do it. We just want to keep our past, present, and future customers informed of this new system and how it may impact them.

Thank you,
Mopar Supercenter Staff
