New member in southern Arizona

Hi all,

Have had my new "C" for a couple of weeks, and it's going to be a lot of FUN! I have had some pretty nice cars before, but I am not really a "car guy", just a regular driver. I DO like power and speed though, on four wheels or on two!

My new C is '06 Silver Steel Metallic AWD w/ everything except sat radio, nav system and wood trim. also 35% tint.

Have already installed a Grillcraft mesh grill (not sure I like it, seems a little "cheesy") and I may change it out, but I DO like the "mesh" look, and with no chrome border which the Grillcraft is.

Looking for some 20" wheels, but VERY hard to find any I like, esp for the AWD. Most of what's avail is a little to "pimp" for me. I really want a stock-like look, just LARGER. Would also like to find some stock-looking taillights, but not darkened, something silvery, or that would emphasize the Silver car color (not chrome though, I'm not a fan of a lot of chrome).

Looking at some performance mods like intake, exhausts, maybe a chip (seems results are debatable w/ chips) but don't want to go toooo crazy (not yet anyway).

Also want to do something w/ brake calipers, but want to "match" the body color as closely as possible. Looking into having them polished, but don't know if that will work. I may just try to have them painted to match, but can't get a consensus from local shops about exactly HOW to do it. Have heard that European C's have polished, anodized aluminum calipers. I will be in Amsterdam and Brussels for a few weeks in the spring, and plan to try to find a dealer to check this out. Also see what other "factory" stuff may be available there that is NOT available here. Have heard rumors that the European chip (from the factory) allows a top end over 150 mph! that would be interesting, and if true I intend to score one. If I find anything "fun" there I will post whatever info I have on the site.

This site has been helpful in searching out "stuff" for my car, and hopefully I can have things to contribute sometime soon.

Welcome Edin, happy to have you aboard. If you haven't already, be sure to check out the South Western forum for meets. We have a large contingency of AZ members heading to San Diego for a meet in January... you might want to hook up with them and join in the fun. If you can't make it then, we're planning a large meet in March, hoping for about 200 cars.

Post pics soon and ENJOY!!

Edin,
Welcome to your new home away from home.Don't worry about your perception of not being a " car guy" but a regular driver as you put it.Once you get involved with the Forum, you're going to be surprised how fast you'll develop into a " car guy'.This Site is loaded with folks that are chomping at the bit to help out each other,so don't be afraid to post your thoughts and questions.BTW - check your PM.I'll send you a site that has ease of use as well as comprehensive info with respect to rims ( tire & packages as well) for your AWD.I will be ordering a set-up for Spring installation myself.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Is how we say HI to . You'll love this place!!! Means "sshhhhhhh" about oil, or this will happen. We love to hear about your of all your cars, but especially the 300. Don't be afraid to ask questions , and have a sense of humor , we all like to . If you live near a Meet and greet , stop by and see your friends. Just don't have too much and then , or you'll . If someone crosses the line, will happen, so be sure to read the site rules. Some of us are , some are , some do this , but you can figure out who really is . And if you smell something amiss, raise this .

Welcome aboard!!! Getting harder to be original with my greetings, so I thought I'd bring this back!! Plus I'm getting slower in my old age.

Thanks for the welcome!

A couple of questions:

I notice almost everyone has a little picture of some sort below thier I.D. at the left of any message. How can I do that? Is it just for premium members?

Also, it seems everyone has a kind of "footer" on thier messages that describes thier car. How?

Sorry to be such a pest, but this is the first time I've been in ANY kind of forum, so . . .

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Cue (or is it MR. Ball),

Thanks for the welcome!

I like your tag line "128 MPH all . . . "

You might know if the rumors about a "European chip" that lets the C go up to 150 plus are true, or just rumors. please let me know if you know anything! That's my kind of driving! I'm not so concerned about the 0-60 performance as about the 90 plus performance.

Hey, no problem!!
But I don't know any chip secrets or my signature would read "150MPH all day".. I am leaving for the sandbox soon, or I would explore the possibility of removing the speed limiter, most likely by flashing the PCM at the dealer with a Euro spec flash. No other secrets here.

For the avatar (pic below username) and stuff at the bottom of our thread (signature) go to "User CP" on the forum menu and explore!!

Not being a pest at all, the New Member forum is a safe haven for this sort of thing...

The pic under the username is called an 'avatar' and the "footer" is called the 'signature'. As "Mr. BALL" said, you can access these features through the 'User CP' (Control Panel) found at the top of the screen, or via the "Quick Links" button above. Both of these features have size limits pre-set in the software:

-avatar max for Premium members is 100x100 or 78.1kb and for non-Premium members it's 80x80 or 40kb, so any large pic you wish to use will need to be resized prior to uploading it

-signature max is 500 characters. If you need help after playing with these instrux for awhile, send me a PM and I'll be happy to help further. (Click my username then select "send Private Message" in the dropdown menu).
