Talking Hello there 300 family.

Hi everyone, I am very excited to join this forum.... I'm pretty new at this so please forgive me if this thread ends up somewhere else. I just bought myself the 300c fully loaded in black last week and am very excited to see what I could do with it...man i wanted this car for 2 years, and last week I got the best deal ever.....Just yesterday I put down a $2,000 deposit on some 22" ASANTI'S, they told me it would take 4 weeks....but that leads me to my first question, I know i should search first but i'm still learning how to use this and this is short of an emergency....I'm getting 22's with a 6 inch lip, I really like deep dish, but my friend who is hooking me up is telling me to put some $6,000 brakes on them. He told me i would lose about 2 inches off the lip. so do i really need to get special brakes if i'm riding on 22's? is it worth the money? thanks everyone, hope to learn alot from this site.

Oh yeah my dad also got the white 300 touring. haha i should fix his up too.

Let me be first to welcome you to the forum!!!

Don't know much about wheels, so I'll leave that for the pros, who should be waking up in a few hours

Welcome RR... neighbor!
Be sure to check out the Regional Forums - South Western, for upcoming meets (check the "sticky" threads at the top of that page. This is a great opportunity to meet some of your forum mates, look at what we've done and talk it all out. Next meet is Jan 14th... less than 2 weeks to go. We're meeting in Irvine then cruising together (as best we can) to San Diego. There will be a group coming in from AZ as well... so far over 70 cars and could go over 80 when all is said and done. Post in this thread if you're interested in joining us, or send me or fatchance a PM.

As for your wheel question... upgrading the brakes is not something commonly done by our members, but you'll probably get a much quicker and more detailed response if you post in the Wheel Forum, or Brakes Forum... good luck!

You don't really "need" it, but you probably want it.

With 22" wheels, your stock brakes are going to look rather small and ugly. And, if the wheel is a very open design, the upgraded brakes can really look nice. It's true that the heavier 22" wheels are going to have a negative impact on your ride, handling, and stopping ability. But it depends on how you plan to drive this car as to whether you really need to upgrade the brakes.

The reason you lose a couple inches of lip on your new wheels is that the spokes are moved outward to provide more clearance for the fat 4-piston calipers. A very deep dish design is generally not big brake friendly. These SRT8 wheels were custom made to just barely clear the calipers, while allowing as much lip as posible.
