We're still shopping.

Drove a Silver Touring Signature Series and a Midnight Blue 300C with the wood package and sunroof. I'm also looking at Charger R/T's

Liked them both - comes down to monthly payment and what I will get for my trades ('02 Camry and an '01 Ranger). My boss also needs to approve the deal.

I belong to 3 Chevy Avalanche verisons of a site like this one and we try to point potential owners in the right direction. Glad I found you guys and gals. I love my truck, but in my line of work where I do a lot of driving, 12 mpg is not an option.

I have a question for the Hemi Owners - Do these cars really get at least 25mpg if you drive it sanely? Not that I would plan to, I like to wring out my Big Block Avalanche as much as the next guy, but I was just wondering as this may be replacing the Camry that I use for work with one or the other.

I'm not too concerned with reliability as it seems that when the Benz was infused with the Mopars, the Mopars got better. But I'm interested in any current owners' thoughts on that subject as well.

Thanks!

Yep! Mine gets me 24 and change IF and WHEN I drive it sanely. Problem is that I'm so insane about this car, so I RARELY get that!! But it has happened on the rarest of occasions. 25 is pushing it and once you're in one, you'll know why. It's just too much fun to drive!

I just consider the extra gas an "entertainment expense" and with all the fun I have with this car, it's all true!

To Wit:
A 19 gallon tank gives you (19 gals x $2.25/gal = $42.75 per tankful):
24mpg - 456 mile range at $0.09375 per mile (conservative driving)
20mpg - 380 mile range at $0.1125 per mile (FUN driving!!)

Having fun costs 0.01875 more per mile. Multiply that times 380 miles in a "fun" tank of gas and you've spent $7.125 more per tankful to have fun. Averaging a tank a week, an extra $7.125 more per week is well worth all the fun I have in my HEMI!!!

Just my $0.02 worth!

Bob

Welcome escheat!
Gas? The C IS a gas!! Too busy havin' fun to quibble over pennies.
As for problems, every car has a few sooner or later; we first-year buyers worked most of the bugs out for you though, so just cross your fingers and GO!

Hello from my 300C in WV (Midnight Blue too... woohoo!). We bought the car "pre-owned" at the end of Sept. Have accumulated 3500+ miles since then. It is one of the most fun cars I've ever had. We are not "insane" drivers, but that doesn't mean we don't "scoot" too! We have averaged 15-17 in the daily stuff, and 23-25 on long-distrance (300+ miles one way).

We rented a Touring or Limited this summer (with the 3.5L V6). It has plenty of power and comfort for long distance driving. Highway mileage with it average 27-28 over 2500 miles). Basically had us convinced to just buy a similar model this spring. But... when the "C" came along at a good used price... we sure are glad we got the V8 Hemi. You wouldn't/won't regret it either!

300"C" reliability and mpg

I agree with all the above posts in regards to mpg. My car is very reliable too. My 05 C is my favorite car I ever own. And I owned some nice ones from Vettes, Mustangs, brand new 66 GTO, 97 STS just to name a few. You get the most bang for your buck. After more than a years ownership and over 10,000 miles. I would buy my car all over again. This forum is testimony about this car. The greatest members are on this forum.

Nice to have you drop by and ask for experiences. I have no problem on long distant driving (no stop & go) getting 24 - 26 MPG in my C. Around town and on the country roads, I average 13 - 17 MPG. Considering the size and weight of the car and hemi engine, I'm very pleased and don't mind spending the $$ for 89 octane fuel. I suppose cleaner fuel (not the suff we have to put up with in Calif) might even bring a few more MPG

Yes, this vehicle has developed some minor problems but most of us have had wonderful success in resolving the issues thanks to so many brilliant minds on this forum. No regrets here regarding my purchase and that was after owning a great Camry and 2 wonderful Avalon's.

Welcome!

Welcome aboard. As to problems, think of it this way. This is a $50K plus car for $35K - with the latest technology on board (9 computers). That said - problems have been largely minor - engineering and build quality is first class, imo.
