New guy checking in...

Hi everyone!

My name is Don and I live in south Mississippi. I bought an '06 Linen Gold Pearl 300 Touring back in June to replace a Grand Cherokee as my daily driver and I love it! I drive 130 miles round trip to work every day and the Jeep's thirst for gas was killing me. The 3.5 V6 is a lot less thirsty and I'm much more comfortable.

I'm in the broadcasting business and have been for nearly 30 years. Currently I'm the Production Director for 4 FM stations in Biloxi, MS. I make commercials.

In my spare time I play with ham radio and my '68 Olds Cutlass S 455. I just celebrated my 22nd wedding anniversary with my wife, Dawn, and we have a 6 year old son.

I've been checking this forum every once in a while and since my fog light burned out a couple of nights ago I decided to join and search the forums on the best way to get to it to change it. I've found a ton of useful info here and I think I'm going to enjoy my stay.

Thanks!

Don

Welcome to the forums Don! Glad you decided to check in with us instead of standing outside. Hope you didn’t suffer too much damage from Katrina. Post some pictures of your golden beauty when you can.

Welcome. Lots of info here including how to change that bulb out by going through the inner fender.

Thanks for the nice welcome!

srt8danno... yes, we got damage from Katrina. We moved here after Katrina because our home in Chalmette (St. Bernard Parish, New Orleans) had 4' of water and crude oil. It was a huge mess but we fared better than most. In my garage was a restored '73 Trans Am 4 speed. It flooded to about an inch over the dash and was a complete loss. The '68 Cutlass is it's replacement. Picayune is about 60 miles NE of New Orleans. We're living on 10 acres in the country with a bunch of my Katrina-displaced in-laws. We have 4 families living on this property now and another 4 or 5 on the 10 acres next to us owned by my wife's aunt & uncle. It's kinda like our little Waco.

Rambit... I've already found the tip about the inner fender but I might just go ahead and remove the lower valance as it's cracked and rubs the ground on dips in my gravel driveway. I think I read somewhere here that removing it doesn't hurt anything and actually lowers underhood temps.

My 300 was a program car that had 14K on the clock when I got it in June. Thanks to my long commute it now has 26K. I'll post some pics soon.

Thanks guys!

Don

Don I'm so sorry to read of your losses, but thank god no human loss for your family. It sounds like your displaced family has made the transition as best as they could under the circumstances. Your little “Waco” sounds pretty nice, but promise me that if you start hearing voices that “god told you to kill someone” you seek immediate help. God bless you and your family and I pray for a better future to come.
